  1. It would be next to impossible TO sleep... lol.
  2. lol. That is freaking awesome...
  3. To someone who is an expert with a FORK, the fork is the best weapon... lol
  4. He's not the only one... lol. Now that I have that out of the way... I have an ex-girlfriend with 32DDs and she has alot of problems with any weapon... Even ones that don't require cross-over technique. I am just glad that I am a guy! lol
  5. Congratulations on picking one of the most difficult weapons to use! lol. That is not an insult, as I am just now learning to use sais. I am much more experienced with Katana, Boken, or Naginata, myself. Karatedepot.com has some sai instructional videos that my help you out alot.
  6. SINCE WHEN IS $600.00 AFFORDABLE?!?!?!?!?!?!
  7. Most of the strength training that you will need is in the forearms and the shoulders. Keep those muscles strong and limber, and you should be fine... Anticipation is also a powerful tool.
  8. I believe it has to do with eating Korean food (or at least garlic) before promotion testing. I believe that Japanese food is worste... lol OR Mongolian..
  9. Anything by Bruise Lee or Jet Lee inspires me... I like studing moves.
  10. Would that be permssable by the Youn Wha federation, though?
  11. NOT SO. I believe than anyone who thinks that the mass majority of teachers are not deserving of the title have just had bad experiences.
  12. Many students don't put faith in their instructors precisely BECAUSE instructors are not 'just' trying to help us improve. There are many who are doing it 'just' for the money and could care less about their students... especially if they don't pay. There is no drama to this scene. People are people, regardless of whether they are students or instructors. One cannot dismiss human failings merely because of belt rank. An instructor is not just a title... It is the whole lifestyle of the person. If the person giving the lessons is just in it only for the money, then that person doesn't deserve the title of instructor. A true instructor has to teach with all of his heart for the right reasons.
  13. As far as I know... WE just get the belt. No names on it... Which kinda sucks. lol
  14. But, do I have ENOUGH time... The tournament is October 29th... Also, do you think it would help my flexibility if I HELD the splits for like... 5 minutes on each side?
  15. I am a practioner of Youn Wha Ryu Tae Kwon Do, and I have a tournament coming up soon. What are some good balace/flexibility exercises to get quick results? I only have two weeks.
  16. Sometimes, the most powerful kick is the simplest... My heavy-hitter kick is... FRONT SNAP KICK. I have over 280 lbs of preasure behind that kick.
  17. I agree with my fellow Youn Wha trainer... The race shouldn't matter of a teacher.
  18. I love your article, dude.
  19. As for the instructor, you do have to admire the fact that he was tough on you... Sometimes, the only way to get a concept in is to beat it into the student... The human race has become too weak in the past couple hundred years, because if an instructor even LOOKS at the student the wrong way, the student can sue! Your feelings toward your instructors reminds me of a girl in my current TKD classes... She is going to drop out of TKD as soon as she gets her first degree blue belt, because our instructor wouldn't let her test this durring our last promotions... The instructor refused to let her test because she doesn't have enough endurance. She thinks that just because she FELT she was ready to test, she WAS ready to test. Students don't put enough faith in thier instructors anymore... All the instructors are trying to do is help us improve... Toughen ourselves... Make us better.
  20. ANY style of martial arts (even the slow Tai Chi) can be deadly in the hands of an experienced martial artist... But with Tai Chi, you may have to speed up the motions a little... lol
  21. Love the article... I too am a christian, but I think that the bible means to turn the other cheek from mental or verbal abuse, much rather than physical abuse. Humans have an animal right to protect themselves and thier loved ones by any means nessicary...
  22. In my opinion, it is better for him to talk about prices so early. He sounds as if he is trying to help you select the best plan... As for the prices, it does sound better to go for the one month plan. My classes charge $30 a month, which is 2 lessons a week. That is fairly good prices...
  23. I have been attacked on the street, and TKD saved my butt more than once... Then again, I am one of the strongest people in my high school... But with out my knowledge, I would have been killed. The reason that I began taking TKD is to build a stronger body, work off alot of stress and agression, AND learn to defend myself... All aspects have worked so far. Most people that know that you study TKD run thier mouths alot and talk about fighting you, but in all reality, they don't have the courage. I am GLAD that they don't have the courage, because I am not the type of person who likes to fight out of anger IF I DON'T HAVE TO... There is always away to avoid battle, even if it makes you look weaker than you are.
  24. The highest score I have ever seen at a tournament was someone who shattered through all 4 boards with a single punch. Now, that is not the greatest idea, because there is a high probability of breaking bones, along with boards. What one of my main stratigies is going to be when I enter the breaking tournament is to use a double fist to shatter through two boards (one on the left and one on the right) and move to the center and break the remaining two boards with a single palm heal strike... Just an idea.
