  1. My answer is probably not going to help you and is only my opinion. In essence it is how you train not really what style you train in. In talking about streetfighting I gather you are talking about defending yourself on the street? You need to find some one who has an understanding( and trains this understanding) of prefight psychology, awareness, pressure testing of techniques. This is just to begin with. You need to find out a bit about yourself, what sort of fighting suits your body type, then cross train in some other styles to pick up other techniques. If you are looking for something that will turn you into an invincible streetfighter, to dispell all your fears, then I'll save you some money and tell you that no system will do such a thing.
  2. I train and instruct in a traditional Tae Kwon Do. We do not train for Olympic style fighting. We have a strong emphasis on kicking but also develop upper body techniques. Tang So Do may share roots with traditional Tae Kwon Do but in my experience they are distinctly different.
  3. By Juniors do you mean lower rank? But older than you? Not really knowing your school or you personally please take the following in the spririt of good advice from a seasoned Martial Artist. 1. See this change as an oportunity. You may not be able to learn technique from the Junior Instructors but you can learn other skills that are helpful. I am also sure that you coud have technical imput into the lessons. 2. You and you alone are responsible for your training, you do not need an instructor there every minute of the day. So you might not learn as much as you did before but what is to stop you from reading, watching videos of other martial artists. 3. At black belt level you should be doing your own training outside of class everyday and then seeking out senior instructors for technical refinement and advice.
  4. Just wondering if anyone on the forums trains in World Tae Kwon Do Association - Chung Do Kwan? The head of the School is Master Son and headquarters is located in New York City. The style is Shotokan derived.
