I got my first tattoo a few months ago and got it on my lower right ankle. It is a good place because it can be easily hidden. Not to mention that it didn't hurt. It is a left open hand over a closed right fist which means "knowledge over power". I would say get something that represents what you believe in with your art. I have studied for 12 years (I am only 21) and hold a second degree black belt, mine represents what I believe in because it kept me from getting into fights with people who picked them in High School.
