I usually spar with women, but do spar with the younger guys on occasion!!! I'm a pretty low belt, so when I spar with the guys they tend not to throw too many punches or kicks, which makes things pretty boring!!! There is an older brown belt I spar with regularly who I always have a good time with, he's not afraid to throw a punch or kick my way.

In kyokushin if you leave for a year you must return at white belt, I hope I have that right. Do all systems have a similar rule? What is the longest you are allowed to be absent from training to still be able to hold the same belt level?

Well, I drive a half hour to go to school every day so I would think I would be able to commute at least that much to go to a good training hall. Luckily, my dojo is a ten minute walk away.

Yes, I can see that it would be difficult to teach how to use presuure points when fighting. I would not think that memorizing any text book would be useful, but memorizing a specific chart and going over P.P.s in class I think would be better than just class work.

Yes, I played soccer before karate as well. I think that is maybe why my kicks are not super-weak now, I just need more flexability to get the kicks higher!

I hate when parents "get weird" about their kids!!! They want them to be perfect and then when they aren't, they complain to the wrong person!! Maybe they should brush up on their parenting skills if their children aren't meeting up to their demands!!!
