  1. I think religion can have some something to do with Ma, being many martial art styles are centered around a certain religion, but not necessary. I think religion based MA use their religion to calm the body and create a strong inner focus, I believe these things can be achieved without religion.
  2. Oh by the way Mai Tai, The date you joined this site is my birthday.. I found that kind of interesting. lol
  3. I think another thing that might change the fight a bit would be the knife itself... If the attacker is weilding a Swiss army knife, I would probably react differently than if he had a long knife. In the case of a knife attack, I would thing the drunk mimicry would work best. Give him not a clue where your coming from, possible confusing him, and then striking from an akward angle so he is caught off guard.
  4. Thank you for your warm welcomes, I have a feeling I will learn much here as I had hoped.
  5. Hello, I am new to this site, new to martial arts, and willing to learn! I hope to learn behind the scene facts, and views people have on certain styles. 16 I am and I plan on gettin started right away. I have some basic knowledge of boxing but not much else. Swords and the mighty Bo are the only thing I have some real knowledge in, and I will do my best to answer any questions refering to those abilities. I have one important question for the experienced. Has anyone been in a fight and experience in martial arts actually keep the fight in your favor? I fear I may get in pushing match, and the next thing I know im laying on the ground bloody. Ex: your at school and you get in a flaring arguement, a circle of people forms, and suddenly he comes at you.. Can anything stop what is gonna happen? I want to know its actually worth taking up this class.. or should I simply hone my reflexes for the most part? Thank you for your time
