White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I just want to know if anyone has ever encountered a whacko such as I have. Well there was this person, (no use in naming names) who said he was a 4th degree Black Belt in kenpo, and a 2nd in various other arts including nimpo and others. Well... turns out our white belts know more of the art then him and move better to boot. And he is only 25!!! So I wonder if anyone else has people that come to there schools and pretend to be hot shots. And how you guys delt with it. -me
  2. Ello, My Name is Brandon and I am an Orange belt in American Kenpo, Ed Parker's system, my master is Proffessor Sasha Williams. I have backgrounds in Boxing, wrestling and street fighting, and im looking forword to giving Kenpo my all! Well I am going to offer my experience ( what little I have) in hopes that it will help sombody here. And I hope to pickup a thing or two as well. -Bran "The ultimate aim of Kenpo is to elongate circles and round off corners." Sr. Grandmaster Ed Parker.
  3. American Kenpo, Jujistu, judo.... yeah.....that would be good. -Bran
  4. I don't know most of the ones i have seen when the fight has gone to the mat the stiker starts pummeling the grapplers head! I saw one where the guys face was hamburger! But equally I have seen it go to the mat and the striler lose because he was pinned up against the cage... but me personally...i wouldn't go in without some grappling background... -Bran
  5. I (personally) think that a American Kenpo and jujistu mix would be the most effective. But thats just me and good luck with the UFC, I have met a few of them.....um yeah pretty big and ugly fellows. -Bran " Its not about who's right, but who's left." Sr. Grandmaster Ed Parker.
  6. Very nice indeed. -Bran " A blackbelt is just a white belt who never quit." Sr. Grandmaster Ed Parker.
  7. Well, my class consists of; monday we spar, and it is light contact for begginning belts....we usually go over the basics, (back knucle punch, groin kicks...ect) Then wednesdays we go over techniques, and Fridays we go over self defense( I.e. real life situations, using the techiniques in non "ideal" situations...ect) And saturdays is always a toss up of whatever the instructor wants to do. But this is my class, im not too keen on how other classes are ran. But i insist that you give it a try regardless, my contention is that its just plain worth it, and trust me* you'll find out why! -Bran "He who hesitates; meditates in a horizontal position" - Sr. Grandmaster Ed Parker.
  8. Simple.... i know this. it means that you can strike with motion....um check triggered salute...there is a hidden backnuckle in there. its when you are bringing your arm back and going to to the upper cut... you might as well do a back knuckle in there....you are going that way anyways. another would be a white belt technique....um I beleive is called attacking mace, when you step forword, you can step on the in-step of thier foot and break it. another one would be...the rear elbow when you when you throw your shoulders out in the rear bear hug techique in the white belt.... only this is in the Ed parker system. but there are so many examples. i suggest getting the infinite insights into kenpo by Ed parker...ther are 5 volumes they are very good. -Bran
  9. Well i was told that if you ever run into a situation where the confrontation between yourself and someone who knew as much or more then you it becomes a sparring match, but if you are facing someone who is untrained then you are more self defense because then you wont have to anticipate his movements as much because he would let you get closer, or stand a certain way, all to make it easier for you to defend yourself. And he would probably telegraph a hell of a lot more, he would probably even be squared off, but never assume, allways expect. Thats how it was explained to me. -Bran
  10. I have always heard that its the instructor who decides....bit in ryu you have the option of asking to test....wich i was told no one ever does. -Bran
  11. I just have assighnments to work out more or read a book about such and such.
  12. I have heard of it, but never wittnessed it. -Bran
  13. I alway wear a shirt under mine....so if it get loose it doesn't bother me.
  14. Move around and don't stop untill you hear "BRAEK!" im mean it even if you know you hit him, the judges might not...sooo don't ever stop untill you hear that. -Bran
