  1. What can a longer limbed fighter do if a shorter fighter gets into the shorter fighter's optimal range (very close range)? Many street fights seem to start from verly close quarters.
  2. you know what, that sucks. i am long limbed and am training in a close range style. what would be a street effective style for long limbed people? Most of the street effective styles seem to be created for smaller or stockier people such as wing chun and grappling styles. Typically long limbed people tend to be thought of to excel at less practical arts such as TKD and other arts that involve lots of kicking.
  3. so long arms prevent you from being an effective close range fighter?
  4. Well, short people have lower centers of gravity, making them harder to throw.
  5. Who do you think would have an advantage in a street fight, a tall person or a short person? I'd say the short person because most street fights are in close quarters and short people are more suited to fighting in close range. Many street effective styles such as hung gar and wing chun are designed to work for shorter people.
  6. My legs are pretty long in proportion to my height ( I am 5 foot 9). Will this affect my footwork speed/stability in fighting? Thanks.
