White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I am looking for a karate dojo in Kingston, Ontario. I've only found a shotokan one at the SAM center. I trained in shito-ryu itosu kai.
  2. 1st degree brown belt, shito-ryu itosu kai. 11 years (was never able to make it to the grading due to time restrictions etc)
  3. Shito-ryu itosu kai Any other shito-ryu stylists out there?
  4. I am currently at university and I do have a friend that I am training with at the moment but not as much as I would like too. We are both in the army so our schedules are quite full. Right now I am attending a boxing class that has some TKD mixed in. It's being taught by a Trevor Brown I believe. I am not sure where he is a TKD master or not. As I said before I am naturally fast but I have a hard time getting loose as well. I am fast enough to compete but if I could relax I'd be twice as fast. That's the way the army makes us, highstrung. Anyways thanks for all the advice.
  5. In the fall I will be trying for the varsity TKD team. Problem is, I do karate not TKD. I figure that my first large disadvantage is in the distance fighting game. Also I assume that I have a disadvantage speed-wise. At least one good thing is that they have changed the rules so that I can now score with punches and not just kicks so that will help me because I noticed a lot of them dangle their arms. I am only short, 5 foot 5 but I am natually quick and I am told I hit hard for my size. I would like any advice on how to adapt my karate to compete equally on the long distance fight. Thanks.
  6. I don't have very much in the way of weapons. I got a longbow but that's more for sport. It doesn't mean I haven't been trained in lots . For example, bo, katana, sai, tonfa, c-7 assault rifle, pistols, bow and arrow, etc. Soon, hand grenades, c-9 machine gun, c-6 machine gun, c-8 carbine, m203 grenade launcher. BTW, c-7 is a fully auto and better version of the m16a2, c-8 is like a m4a1. Just for you guys not in the CF. Oh, I need a combat knife, nothing fancy, just a durable blade with a serated section. Anyone know of a good one?
  7. Bo staff, then nunchuku, then katana then others
  8. You have to be careful when looking for a sword. I find that most are unbalanced, just made for demonstration or they are made to break if you hit something too hard (make sure people don't go crazy with them). Oh and generally stay away from any of them that have fancy anything on them.
  9. Is it really that dangerous where you guys live that you need to tote around all these guns and various other weapons? I live in Canada, and well, you just don't see that. Not even the crazy guys in the army carry all that around. Sure most of us have knives but we don't even carry around those unless we are in the field.
