  1. Hi all, what can you tell me about Combat Hapkido? I'm thinking about training in it, but I'm not sure. Thanks
  2. Thanks agian. The problem with Hapkido, is the only Tae Kwon Do school in my town is a McDojo, I was originaly going to train there, but decided against it. I think Combat Hapkido would be ok, but I would still like to train a traditional art. Sorry if I'm being to picky. Any other options? Thanks agian, and sorry if I'm to picky!
  3. Thanks, I was thinking about Hapkido myself, but there really aren't any schools around me. There is one about an hour away in Salina that is Combat Hapkido. Whats the difference, would it give me that same thing? Thanks agian!
  4. Hi all, most of you probably haven't heard of me cause I haven't been on for a while, and I mainly dwell in the Korean Arts Forum. Anyways, my instructor closed his DoJang and was teaching me privatly. Recently he has gotten really busy, and will remain that way for a while, so I thought I might as well take this to my advantage and cross train while I'm waiting for him to get back. I was wondering what Martial Arts you guys think would help accent my Tang Soo Do training. I am kinda hoping to stick with the Korean Arts, but any are welcome, so let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
  5. At my school we do a low backfist and then bring our front foot to our back foot and then hammer fist, then step and punch. But yeah, just like anything else, it varies from school to school.
  6. I can't give you much more advice than what was prevoiusly stated, and I would have to agree with it. Also, just hang around and watch a few a classes, see if it's what your intrested in. If he won't let you watch, then its probably not what you want anyways. Talk to former and current students see if they like or liked it.
  7. Sohan, I don't mean to be rude but I achived Cho Dan in 2 years and I definatly apprectiate the value of reciving it and what it really means. One year after my Cho Dan test (which would be now) I am preparing for my Ee Dan test. I can guarntee you that I appreciate and understand it more than some people who trained for it for 4+ years. If have anything else to say about that you can PM me that way we don't make a scene in front of the others, . Aside from that thanks for posting everyone, including Sohan, you have helped give me ideas, thanks agian.
  8. Thanks guys, you've been a big help!
  9. I continued to train because I "fell in love" and it had been part of my life ever since I started, and I didn't know what I would do if I quite. But what about my second question, what do you think is the best way to deter physical conflict? Thanks agian!
  10. Hey everybody, it's been a while but I'm back! For those of you who are a Cho Dan or above, why did you continue to train after reaching Black Belt? And for any one else, what do you think is the best way to deter physical conflict? Thanks everyone!
  11. I agree that I don't need an instructor there all the time but in the DoJang I can ask him for advice and questions, but with him not there and they being my juniors no one can awnser my questions. And yes I do practice every day, but it goes ack to questions agian, I stumble upon them while I'm practicing. Thank for the advice though.
  12. My instructor said that he will train with me on thursdays along with the other dans, but the problem about cross training is that there are really no other schools in our area. So I'm kinda stuck, but thanks for the responses guys!
  13. Hello every body, sorry I haven't been on for a while but I have had quite a few things to deal with. One of them is that my instructor has been teaching three hours a night, 5 nights a week, for 22 years, while also working for a land and title company. He is getting tired of doing both things and would perfer to do just Tang Soo Do but does not have enough students to make a living off of it, therefore he is semi retiring from teaching. This means that he will let 2 of his students run the DoJang 4 nights a week and he will teach the advanced students (green belt and above) on thursday, run the testings, and other major events but basicly he is letting the 2 take over. Both of the people who will be running it are my juniors, reason being I am only 14 and I am not aloowed to teach with my instructor's supervision. But they can not teach me either since they are my juniors. So my training is basicly over, exept for thursdays. Tang Soo Do is the best thing that has ever happend to me, and I hate to see this happen, what should I do? Thank very much!
  14. Acully, Up the Irons, Ho Sin Sool is an art by its self. What we see in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do are exerpts from the art. and I was not worndering about the difference in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Ho Sin Sool, I was wandering about Ho Sin Sool and Hapkido, hint the name!!!! And thank you for the information TSDforChrist! I found a Hapkido school in a town near me, maybe I can stop by and see what it i like!
  15. I know that Tang Soo Do teaches Ho Sin Sool, that were taken out of the art Ho Sin Sool. I have been wanting to learn to either the art of Ho Sin Sool or Hapkido to help me with Ho Sin Sool techniques in Tang Soo Do. This is where you guys come in!! What is the difference between the two? (Ho Sin Sool or Hapkido)
