Once I had this dream that my cousin house was burning and my sister was with my cousin in his house.

It is always better to not get hit than to hit anyone but to get hit by that person. So I think the basic is as AngelaG said is to not get hit, counter attack in anything secundary.

all of them are my friends, and some are my family. And the last night I had this really disturbing dream , with my sister.

Lately , I´m having really weird dreams. A lot of time they include the dead of people that I know. I mean, this nigh I had 4 different dreams, I remenber all of them, they were about persons that I know, some of them from my karate classes, One of them died on my dream... Some of these dreams are really disturbing, I don´t really want to have them anymore.

Martial arts like Karate aren´t to be teached in school..yes, very true. And I have an story about that. My sister ( now 13-years-old ) had judo and karate in school during 2 years, truly she didnt learned anything...and now everytime I ask her if she want to join me in karate, her asnwer is always a no.She says that karate doesnt worth anything. That hurts me. But what hurts the most is knowing that the 2 years that she had MA in school made her think that way.

I agree completely with the last posters, I mean, I´m doing karate not because of self defence, even thought that is an advantage. I only do karate cause I really love it.

So you are saying either portugal or canada school are bad? If i understanded it wrong, please sorry. In my school there are really good persons at that MA ( karate shotokan ) i dont understand why we do need of so much time to get a BB.

Karate or any other MA isn´t is wearing a belt, of course, you are right, any person who would attack us on the streets isnt is wearing a belt. Thats not my question. My question and all topic was about why here it take so much time to ear the balck belt. For much concerned i am with my safety in the streets I want to advance in belts and eventually get to the black belt. I entered karate not because of self defence..but because I like it, It of course is good for prottection, but that is not the main goal of karate, not for me.
