  1. Like Rick 72. I also dunno what style of Karate you trainned before. In karate, we were taught to able to "one hit one kill." Yes, there is time we want to get in and out quick, but there are also times we want to penetrate, and finish fight in one hit. They are just different techics with different intention. Not only techniques considered as low percentage from older muay were removed, and some of more dangerous, but very effective moves were removed also, and also grappling technics. Because they want to make it safe. by they way, Mirko Cro Cop is a good fighters. Good technics and very precise.
  2. oh just want to add. He did mention that the theory behind pressure point is same as pressure point in Chinese medicine. And Chinese medicine is in fact very scientific, and alot of theory was accepted by western medicine, and that includes pressure point. ever seen people using needle and stick into body for pain relieve?? if you live in Souther California, it's not hard to find place do that, and not only Chinese goes to that places.
  3. well, not many people really knows how to do it these days, althought there are people claim they do, but they acutally don't. I guess you have to fly to China to really get hit by one. To me, since it's a program from reputable BBC, and this particular program, has people like Dr. Hatsumi on the show before, so I think it's credible enough for me to believed it. by the way, he did make contact.
  4. Regarding same techiques with different name; you know, I found alot of times, the name is different only because people try to spell them in engish according the to the dialog tone, thou leads to different "names" For example, Wing Chun, and Youn Tsun. They sounds different, and totally spell like different "name" in English. But if you understand Chinese Character, they are actually the same in Chinese writing. I know alot of non-chinese speaks has trouble with this. Also, I am not sick of UFC itself, it's entertaint to watch, but I am sick of the hype that it comes with. I think there are alot of misconceptions regarding traitional Art.
  5. VERY WELL WRITTEN!!!! Traditionla Fist. Finally someone made it clear. And also, Chinese has fought war for more than 3000 years, and mostly are tradtional melee combat. Kung Fu was definately used in every single war in China, and even today, Chinese military were trained to use it. (I am sure they don't cross-train in Muay Thai, BJJ or Boxing) The effectivenss of Kung Fu in combat shouldn't be doubt. And with that long of history, and to think that Kung FU has not coverd the ground aspect???? I don't think so.
  6. watch this, its from BBC, and it had feature some other famous martial artist like Dr. Hatsumi from Bujinkan. So it should be credible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drz-CMespEM&mode=related&search=
  7. here is the first generation tiger mask during 1984 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeWsPGbsrVw&mode=related&search= there is a tiger mask IV now, but i have to find it.
  8. just wondering, am I the only one here that's kinda sick of all these UFC and MMA hype???
  9. King actually resemble the tiger mask, a famous japanese professional wrestler. However, in Tekken 5, he has moves from rock buttom (fromt the rock), Tombstone (from Undertaker) to Kiniku buster (from kiniku man/muscle man animation). Which I think is really cool.
  10. yes, it's actually the "Tom-yum-goon" by Tony Jaa (the guy in Ong Bak). It's an awesome movie. If you like martial arts, it's a must see.
  11. big differeneces. Check out those video link I post earlier. I think he probably saw amateur fights too.
