  1. Bourne Identity fight Scenes... what style of fighting is used in them? Where can I learn how to fight like that? (no "it's just a movie" comments please).
  2. In my experience, one has to practice with grapplers to know how to counter their takedowns. Strong legs (in a solid stance ala Wing Chun) are helpful too.
  3. He's my Sifu. Even better. I like his videos... I haven't found many instructional videos online that aren't just about showing off instead of genuinely sharing information. You might want to suggest that he turn the music off when he's filming though... it makes it a lot harder to hear him sometimes. Otherwise, kudos. If my current training falls through that's probably my next art. Interesting point. I dont use videos myself, but I guess I'll relay the message to him. About my initial topic... I checked out Mcdojo website... It's not exactly what I was looking 4. I meant where can I buy high quality videos of fights?
  4. Where can I get good WC tournament or other type of fighting videos in the New York area? Thx!
  5. Thx for replies, guys. Yea, I was kinda stupid and lucky. Moving around would have been natural, but till the last moment I was hoping there would be no fight. Moving into a fighting stance would have provoked it, I guess (as if my making an issue of the whole thing in the first place didn't). Mi nose and jaw have healed by now and for the future, I guess I'll carry a knife or something heavier. And keep walking when not attacked.
  6. Hi. It's ironic there was a big discussion about defense aganist multiple attackers and just recently I experienced the situaton on my own skin. I was returning from college in Queens, NY, at night when a couple of kids went by, one of them flashing his hand a sentimeter away from my face. Normally I would have probably just went on, but something really stupid inide of me decided to make an issue out of it. So, I called the guy up (twise) and he turned around and approached me, leaving the other kid and two chicks behind. I asked why he did what he did, but he was just playing a rap star, talkin' BS, so I got frustrated, told him to go f himself and walked away. Not so fast. Around 8 of his buddies were just comming by and their leader informed me, he's gonna "fuck me up," demonstratively taking his coat off. Well, I didn't say anything, just stood there. The other guys surrounded me. Not to waste time, I didn't even see the punch - it probably came from a person behind or to the side. I blinked my eyes and while they were closed, I heard about half a dozen more punches landing on my face. A moment later I was in a crawling position on my left knee and left arm pretty much. Several more punches came, this time from the right side. Then there were no more punches and I got up. I called 'em fuckin losers and sort of complained that 1on1 wasn't offered. The leader replied he can take me 1on1, but not as loud or enthusiastically as before. I approached him, punching his in a jaw, full weight. When he fell, I punched him twise more. He didn't move. No1 else moved. I picked up my book I had with me and walked away home. For the record, I've been practicing boxing for 4 years and Wing Chun for 1.2 years. Care to comment on my story? Thx.
  7. My sifu fights blindfolded. Wing Chun style.
  8. How so? From what I remember of being in Karate tournaments, none of the basic moves in Wing Chun would result in a disqualification. That's an option I'm looking at right now, but it's not a real priority to get into tournaments, imho. Will I be allowed to kick at opponent's knees? Execute curved punches instead of just basic ones from-the hip? Lock opponent's arms? Use pressure points techniques? Fights without any protective gear? Fight non-stop until one of us is down and defenseless, no matter the points?
  9. No $, just experience that u managed to conqure your own fear (for the duration of a fight). To be paid for fighting is to become a "professional athlet."
  10. Any ides when/where WC tournaments take plade in NY? Also, where can I get videos of actually WC tournament fighting (no forms, just kumite)? Thx!
  11. Thx man. Hmm... it's a pity that much of Chinese history is no more than a well... legend. Nonotheless, thx for a reply, man!
