  1. What makes a great fighter? Why that is a silly question. Of course the answer to that one is ME. I MAKE A GREAT FIGHTER! Nah, jk. Really I think the only thing that can make a great fighter is you. Ya get me?
  2. I TRAINED with this guy for a long time when he was in the US. Go see him at https://www.tommycarruthers.com and why not take a look at what some of Bruce's students say abouit him.
  3. Well I understand what all of you are saying. I guess SOME of you dont understand the philosophies of JKD. I am a serious practitioner. I have watched other styles and my friends have tried to shwo me other styles. I have TKD, Judo, Karate friends. I was just trying to point out a couple of things but if this is going to turn into an argument, then just forget it. It's pointless arguing over nothing. Sorry I even brought it up, I knew I should not have said anything because it would offend other guys who do other styles. So just nevermind. Just continue your karate and judo, etc. Train hard. And once again, no offense to anybody. You dont have to try and get so smart assy.
  4. Well yes. I have crdentials and am certified to teach JKD. I was trained by Sifu Tommy Carruthers when he came to the US for awhile. OK, thnx for your posts guys, I will look into it
  5. Yes but the thing I live by..... "The best technique is to have no technique"
  6. Lol, I know that much, thnx though, lol. But I was saying, are there any requirements you need?
  7. Oh not at all. No offense taken. BUT, in MOST traditonal Karate or Kung Fu or TKD schools, I have visited, I have found that they use just what they are taught. Now in a street situation, if you try to use what you are "taught"... how can you be 100 % sure it is going to wrok, as opposed to just REACTING to what is happening? I karate school and all that, they teach you "Okay someone come at you with punch like this, wham bam, you do this" Well, in the streets, is someone going to come at you like what you were shopwn in your dojo? Highly doubtful. No one is going to come at you with a hook starting from way back across from you. They are more than likely going to be close to you and come with quick jabs. I have not seen any Karate schools that show you defenses against those types of things. And MOST (not all I'm sure) classical Karate and Kung Fu schools dont let you do any "freestyle" sparring, where you can train realistic scenarios. They have you train against one another using what you have been taught. And that my friend... is not getting you anywhere. Yoru not expressing yourself, you are expressing THAT art when you train in that way. No offense to you neither my friend, just stating my opinion. I just cant chain myslef to any style. Remeber... broken rhythm.
  8. I was just wanderinf if anyone here knows how you can open your own school? I want to open a JKD school to try and carry on Bruce's ways and philososphies.
  9. I did Wing Chun for awhile, but I kinda took in to JKD. I didnt want to chain myself to any style or whatnot. And no, even if it was my first "style", JKD would still be no "style". JKD is NOT a style or form. A style you have to leanr and do everything you are SHOWED, EXACLTY how you are taught. JKD you can implement what works for you most effective. I leanred form Tommy Carruthers for awhile before he went back to Scottland, and you guys should check him out. He is LITERALLY the closest thing to Bruce as of now. You can check his site out for yourselves and read the comments about him from Bruce's personal students. https://www.tommycarruthers.com
  10. Ohhh no. I am not the only one whom practices JKD. I know there are others. I was just saying I dont practice any "style" lol.
  11. Yeah I love that feeling. It has happened to me alot while sparring. Though I dont train in any "form or style", I was able to make my moves flow freely and fluidly a couple of time. It feels great. You cant describe it you have to experience it. You know what I mean, You obviously did it before.
  12. Yes. I have been attacked. Let me tell you the story. It was 2001, I had just left my friends house from watching some movies with him. It was not quiet dark yet, but kind of gloomy I guess. Anyways, on my way home I stopped by a store to get a pack of chewing gum. After I walked out, there was a man standing there with one other guy. To my surprise I knew these people. (That story is not important though). Anyways, we exchanged some words, and I started to walk off. He grabbed my shoulder and I did a quick hard jab to this stomach and he let go and kinda flinched. I started to RUn this time. His friend grabbed me. Well I gave him a quick smack to the side of the head and he kinda kneeled down and held his head for a sec. I backed up a litle bit and waited for him to recover. He got up, advanced to me and *POW* ... a quick jab to his head again... AGAIN he knelt down somewhat. I again moved back a good distance from him and he got up again. He came for me again, and *POP , SMACK* A straight lead to the head AGAIN, and a quick cross punch to the chin. He fell down. I then looked at his friend and he came back at me. He started moving around saying "Cmon ninja boy muthafucker" So I waited for him to move in my striking distance and *WHAP*, a quick lead to the forehead. He backed off a little. I kept my distance. He came in again with a sloppy hook. I slipped under and did a straight, fast kick to his stomcah, then one to his shin, then *POP POP*, straight lead to the head, and a right cross to the jaw. He backed off and started yelling out foul language. He acted like he was gonna walk off. He then quickly turned around and tried to kick me in the mid section. I parried behind him, and kicked the crease in the back of his legs and he fell once more. Well.... then... with my luck... THE COPS CAME. Anyways, we all went to jail for Disorderly Conduct. In this situation I was very calm and tried not to get over excited. And by doing that, I was better able to perform. Oh if you are wandering this is a TRUE story.. I tried to tell the cops I couldnt run, but they insisted on taking me in. So I took the charges ... and faced what I deserved I guess. Advice, DONT FIGHT IN PUBLIC EVER.
  13. Has anyone ever been training... with say a kata, and while you were training you just get this... heavenly feeling and you start making your moves flow perfectly and very fluidly?
