  1. well.. Hip rotation always alows for as much power as possible.. I have always found that worked really well and using all of your body weight by twisting your back foot a helps as well. but on the other hand it takes a little bit of proper form and practice to get those at the same time and have it work to it's full potential. Give that a try! Lyds
  2. Thanks Dijita, That helps me alot actually. I will check out the site and let you know what i think.
  3. Hi there everyone! I am really interested in changing it up again. I have done alot of different kinds of martail arts. I have been trainning in Shotokan Karate for about 13 years. I moved to college in a different city and want to try something new now that I am in a new city. I am now in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I would really appreciate some recommendations on where to try. I am looking for something in hard style and not karate. If you could help me out that would be great!
  4. I have a question for all you martial arts lovers out there! What do you think about the traditions of martial arts? What traditions have you come across that you think are essential to your trainning and your competeing as well as how it effects you in your everyday life? I'm curious about what other people have experienced!
  5. well for me I started when I was 5 years old. My mother wanted to make sure I was activly involved in something so I had the choice of ballet or martail arts. So I thought I would try Shotokan Karate! Wow. I love it. I am still involved and this is my 13th year. So I originally started because my mom. but now I do it because I love the feeling I get when I train. I feel so good about my self, and it has become a passion that I'm almost addicted to now. I love it and I know that it will be apart of me for the rest of my life!!!!
  6. Why do guys hate fighting girls in tournements. I'm a girl and have been competeing for 12 years in Shotokan karate and whenever I go to fight a guy they get mad or just tell me they don't want to fight me... What is wrong? Just wondering.....

I know how nervous you can get. Before my first black belt test I was so nervous. Everything is muscle memory by now so I'm sure you will do fine... Well good luck I hope everything goes the way you want it to!! Lyds
