  1. Actually, in several states now, they use your drivers licence for requiring jury duty. Hence, even if you never register to vote, you could still be called to serve on a jury. People were refusing to register to vote for this very reason, and that is why they have started to do away with it. Now, you could always decide not to drive... or at least not to drive legally.
  2. Welcome
  3. The oldest in my school is Bruce, who is 64... he may have just turned 65. He only comes about once a week, but he is a lot of fun to have around, and will give most of the youngsters a run for their money. He never had any Ma training outside of the military when he was younger, but he stayed in pretty good shape and doesn't have to many problems keeping up with the rest of the class.
  4. I enjoy the discipline. I think there is a lack of it within our schools, and our homes, and if I can help these kids learn it, perhaps some of that may help in their private lives as well.
  5. I usually like it quiet, but AC/DC's U Shook Me All Night Long can be a good one at times.
  6. Well first, tuck your back leg all the way, and second, quit flailling your arms. It's really about that simple. Seriously, work on the heigth. That is the biggest key. The whole purpose for the jump is to gain gain heigth, not to look cool. Second, the kick moves very fast. it's not like it is in the movies where you can hold it for 3 seconds. You've got to tuck the back leg quick, and work on keeping your elbows against your sides after you jump, that will help with those, but don't stress out to much about your arms. they will move about a natuarlly as they try to keep your body in the right position.
  7. Well, at least you can find humor in my country Wait till I get going about the Queen..... Just kidding. Politics are really quite funny as long as you don't take them to seriously. You gotta be able to laugh.
  8. I can swallow a quarter and make it come out of my nose... at least my 3 year old thinks I can... is it magic, or is it an illusion?
  9. I began as a teenager, many years ago, because my friend was involved, and I thought it was pretty cool. I ended up taking break after I graduated Highschool, my college didn't have any programs, and I was taking too many credit to worry about starting one. Then I moved to Northern Michigan, where they didn't have schools in my style, so I worked out with some friends, but nothing to serious, until my own children began to take an interest. Now I do it for them, I've started my own school and I do it for my students (I love to teach), and I do have to say that I am in better shape than I have been in for a long time, and I enjoy seeing my kids grow in the art. So I guess I have a few different reasons for why I am involved now.
  10. Oh my Can't help but chuckle at that one
  11. The more you spar, the better you will become. The more people you spar, that are a higher quality (generally higher rank), the better you will become over time. Don't give up, try some of the suggestions you've received, and try to learn something every time you spar sombody, especially those that you consider to be better than you. Ask yourself why you think they are better, and then try to learn from what they are doing. Good luck, and let us know how you progress.
  12. Basically, it's just fighting an imaginary opponent. Stand close to a wall, or in a corner, and imagine your shadow is you opponent, and just throw techniques as if you were actually in the ring. Its a great cardio workout too, if you really put some intensity into it. Stay light on the feet, and work your combinations... this is a great time too, to work on some of those combinations that you think should work, but maybe you just haven't gotten your timing down yet.
  13. I agree that the child is the real victim here, but you are making a lot of accusations and assumptions based on three pararaphs of information. Although, your point about being a responsible parent is 100%correct!
