White Belt (1/10)

  1. I dont have any MA names for my pets, but i was thinking about it. If i had a cat, i'd give it a name like Musashi, or Takezo for a dog (Alaskan Huskies are my favorite) if i had a bird, i'd go with Kojiro, after musashi's rival. BTW, aefibird, the names heihan and yondan are great!
  2. my God, the truth of these is staggering!
  3. in our school, which is really unorthodox, we learn one new form for each rank, as well as new kicking, punching and hapkido/aikido techniques heres a brief synopsis Yellow horse stance punch jab/reverse punch kicks (axe, front, roundhouse, side,) Purple Form I (modified Keecho hyung il boo) kicks (crecent, back) side punch/ backfist Orange Form II Sliding/ shuffle kicks break slide side kick Blue Form III charging kick break back kick Green form IV Counter (cat stance) kick advanced punching combo break front kick, elbow. thats as far as ive gotten, im working on getting green belt. some styles can have more than one form at a belt, it really depends on your club.
  4. its not part of our curriculum, but the twist kick (or reverse roundhouse) is the hardest, especially if you apply advanced footwork like a jump, spin, or charge. I can't get it to go horizonally enough to be a tag. back kick is hard to, as are most jumping kicks. But that back kick'll get you
  5. sounds to me like your getting ripped off. Tests for regular grades are $25, the first dan test is $150, but that covers the belt, plus your name printed on it, and i think you get a jacket too. But $500? you should see what all that extra money is going to.
