  1. Fajin: I agree with your comments about Yang Style. About Chen Zhonghua, he was a disciple (inside student) of Hong Junshen (he passed away) and is a disciple of Feng Zhiqiang. Ren Guangyi is a disciple of Chen Xiaowang. Another good Chen Style teacher, Yang Yang, is also a discliple of Feng Zhiqiang. You should try to check the different workshops and seminars offered by these teachers. Is a good way to begin serious Chen Style training. If you are currently doing Yang Style and you have a good teacher that knows the practical applications of the art, keep doing it! Of course, this doesn't mean you shouln't do research into other styles.
  2. Fajin: Chen Zhonghua will be at a workshop in Vancouver at the end of April. Check his site for details.
  3. True Taiji Fajin, it is wise to know before you make judgements of Taijiquan teachers. Chen Zhonghua happens to be one of the best Chen style taijiquan instructors in North America. Another good Chen style teacher is Ren Guangyi: https://www.renguangyi.com By reading the information in their websites you will only know who their teachers are/were. If you want to know if they are for real, you need to meet them personally and train with them.
  4. Isshin Ryu is good style of Okinawan karate. If you like what you see in the dojo, go for it!
  5. Totally agree with dtstiachi. Yes, taijiquan is a complete martial art that can be used for real combat. On the other hand, there are many taichi "instructors" who don't know the real practical applications of the art.https://www.chenzhonghua.com
  6. Taijiquan forms don't follow the letter "I" pattern. There are plenty of taijiquan sites in the web, search them to get more info on real taijiquan. https://www.ymaa.com https://www.chenzhonghua.com https://www.taijichinesemedicine.com
  7. Try the Wayfarer Publications Catalog https://www.tai-chi.com Another source is https://www.ymaa.com Also check https://www.chenzhonghua.com for Hunyuan qigong
  8. Taijiquan is definitely a martial art with numerous self defense practical applications. I would suggest that you search the differnt sites vailable in the web. An excellent site is https://www.chenzhonghua.com
