  1. If you feel that you'll like Muay Thai more then go for it. My first, and only (for now), martial art was Muay Thai. I started at 16 and I'm a skinny guy. Just suck it up and go with it. At the end of day you'll feel great for surviving the training.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. No, I certainly won't do that. If they have MT classes anywhere around there then it'd just be an added bonus. As for the job, I'm looking into either firefighting or computer systems operations apprentice. Even aerial gunner interests me. Out of those three though, I think firefighting seems cool. Not only do I like the Air Force, but I also look up to firefighters.
  3. I'd just like to say hello to all of you again. I've been silently checking the forums out every so often. I had to stop taking Muay Thai lessons about a year ago. I still get urges to go back, but I don't have the cash to do so now. Anyway, what I want to know is if anybody here knows if there are any Air Force bases that offer Muay Thai training lessons. I'm going to join the USAF after I graduate from high school, and I thought it'd be a huge plus if anyone knew about this. I know this question is a little different from all the others, but I'd appreciate any help on my question. A lot of AF base websites are down so I can't really do any research on it. Thanks for any help.
  4. AMERICA'S ARMY! Sorry...I love that game. It's great to be able to find servers with real soldiers playing and teaching them a lesson. Even though they'd kick my butt in real life.
  5. Don't worry about your size. I'm as skinny as they come and do pretty well in my gym.
  6. Bags, pads, people: Kick those things. Why? Because they're softer than your shin bone and won't damage it, but will still numb the pain effectively. Pins, trees, "tapping" your leg with little sticks: It's just not the way it's meant to be done. Your shin secretely cries. Your heavy bag will become your best friend for a while. Good luck on finding a gym.
  7. I'm going to take that banana thing into consideration. I've been through practice with a full stomach twice because I was in such a rush. Not fun at all.
  8. Last thing you want to do is use a rolling pin. You'll pay for it later in life.
  9. If you're unhappy about where you are then feel free to try something else. It seems as if you gave that gym more than enough chances to make up your mind. I wish you luck with whatever decision you make.
  10. Exactly what Thai_Kick said. Shins hurt like hell man. I love Muay Thai...
  11. For some reason I'd rather do round kick practice. I love those, especially working on the guard and countering. I'm weird that way.
  12. Push kick drills with the belly pads. The pads work for about the first 5 kicks then it's like they're not even there. And sometimes the other guy's foot slips and you gotta watch your groin.
  13. I've been taught to control the fight by utilizing push kicks. Especially toward the knees and thighs. Learn to throw the push kick in all directions with both legs. Even modify it so it's like a side kick.
