  1. i like the boxers stance. i can throw fast punches and hard rear leg round kicks when in it. my second favorite is the jkd on guard stance.
  2. i havent seen any proof of ki. i used to think it was real when i was younger because i saw it on animes like dbz and street fighter. there are alot of crazy people on the web who think they can fly make ki balls and even do a kamehameha. alot of them even say they are "masters". these kind of people need help because their is no magic energy to gain martial art ability.
  3. i dont think there is a best style for self defense. it really depends on how one uses what he or she was taught in a street/self defense situation. with selfdefense its more of how you respond to a situation ,and how you use your skills under the pressure of that situation.
  4. im 2nd generation my father did shotokan, boxing, judo, and street fighting when he was a policeman
  5. even though this topic is about full contact karate i believe that there should be mixed martial arts, Pride style fighting, in the olympic games.
  6. well boxing does more than help with your punching skills it helps with your movement and flow. the ways you listed to help with punching are basically exercises while boxing is an art in itself.
  7. other than MMA and JKD i would say kyokushin karate
  8. i agree thats becuase alot of martial artist are not as well rounded as they think they are. for example a karate man who has trainined in just karate cannot defend against the various punching combinations of a boxer. im not saying the karate man is weak i am saying that a pure karate man can not deal with the boxers speed, stamina, and change in tempo that the boxer has developed through sparring and pad drills. the boxer may have a hard time getting through the karate mans kicks but as soon as he gets close enough the boxers speed and power will quickly win the match.
  9. sometimes grion kicks are not that effective. i mean they usually are but if the person doesnt feel any pain in that area you will probably just end up ticking him off.
  10. i finally got to use my new boxing abilities in some sparring matches. i was surprised. i knew i had gotten stronger from the months of boxing practice but i didnt no i would be so much faster then my classmates. it felt really good to do so well. i was throwing fakes and combonations and slipping punches like it was a walk in the park.
  11. yeah boxing is a martial art ,but for a street fight people will throw kicks and its good to learn how to deal with them. thats why i do both boxing and martial arts
  12. does steve muhammed have a website? from your description of his ability i could probably learn alot from him
  13. in my system of martial arts the black belt test can be called " a day when all the schools black belts try to make a brown belt quit." the test is open for the students to watch, and all the old black belts and sensies come to grade the test. the test includes every technique you have learned since white belt; many rounds of sparring;the use of the kali escrima weapon system; grappling; and self defense. after all this the brown belt does alot of stamina and waits for his reasults.
  14. we all bow down to your superior posting abilities
  15. i think the reason why some of the punching techniques in kyukushin resemble western boxing because its creator trained in boxing while he was in the military.
