question for any1 from the southeast of england whom do muay thai! cud u recommend any local gyms/clubs for muay thai , i live in kent am 18 , and currently do a ton of kick boxing , but this is just to strengthen my kicks n get used to more contact than my previous martial arts classes , i am looking to do my kick b0xing classes (3hrs a day evry day of the week) for at leats 2 more years , then plan on going to a muay thai club near my area , then if all goes to plan join a muay thai camp in thailand , ultimately i wud love to compete professionally / and / or be a muay thai instructor , any advice to achieve my goals + an answer to the original quesiton wud be appreciated thx! I undertsand ur 'hard *' attitude (as u so eloquently put it) completely. just.. i guess it was my day to bitch at som1 :/ , i myself cant stand alot of flashy techniques , as this is a weapon u are handling , therefore u shud treat it as one , and with respect... but i do think at least a small part of this flashy style can be salvaged maybe for some decent striking , depends on the wielder , i myself have set out to master the c0re techniques of the nunchaku , concentrating on locks , blocking and striking , and leaving the flairaspect to the "entertainers" wilst im busy being a "martial artist" but this is just my opinion , flair certainly has its place in some peoples martial arts , just i prefer to leave much of it out of mine.

wouldnt that be quite a rash statement? i mean , sure instruction is extremely useful , but once one was come to grasps with a weapon enough to wield it in a 'flashy' manner , then surely they should be able to use it in a 'offensive' way , maybe not to the extent of someone who has been taught by an 'expert' but i think with abit of common sense/some basic MA experience u can guage where/how to hit sombody to a decent degree without too much instruction. or maybe im far to literal , and misinterpreted ur statement as it was sarcastic! in which case shame on u! sarcasm has no place on a forum where tone of voice is esential (unless its BLINDINGLY obvious)

spelling is probably completely off , as i heard it and had to resort to repeating it in my head to remember the name!! haha , choi le foot? it sounded like , anyways i heard it on a prog called "fight school" (like a martial arts reality t.v prog) and this style of kung-fu just looked really interesting , any1 care to enlighten me?

quick question , i know my own limitations , and in my eyes this is perfectly achievable , but is it SENSIBLE / BENEFICIAL to be taking Judo + BJJ at the same time , when i have no experience in either , and very little grappling exp.

Hey all new here at the KF forums! stumbled across this ub3r co0l f0rum wilst searching for nunchuku info! :D great community with very helpful/inforemative people by the looks of things! anyways lil bout myself i guess :/ im 18 , from the UK , am insanely jealous of my cousin who is a kick b0xin national champ... and a great fan of self improvement = i <3 MA ...i do freestyle kick b0xing , Muay thai kb , with aspects of various kung fu thrown in , have also thrown in many a ninjitsu technique for flavor and am self taught in nunchuku , spellin is probably completely inaccurate , but its the sentiment which counts? er...right? hehe h0pe we can share many a gr8 debate Max

hmmm , yeah , guns make u a tough criminal? plz... get a clue lol U.S villains = have guns / Cops = have guns U.K has the same level playing field. as for u Ad , sorry to hear that such an orrible thing appened to ya m8ty , and ur reaction was completely natural , many people would have reacted the same , i have seen it many times before , but think of it this way m8 , u beat the bad guys , wivout liftin a finger experience is the best teacher. n im sure that experience was one HELL of a learning curve!

In a points sparring combos my personally fave is.. Lunging punch + reverse punch , so u are provoking a block , or similar reaction , maybe even a counter strike ,then pushing that guard/strike upwards with the lungin hand and striking under with the reverse punch. i find the majority of points come from hook kicks , defensive sidekicks , reverse punches , and a swift bridge hand can be pretty decent to guard is very important also ,i find a zonal freestyle guard to my preference , as points can only be scored above the belt... (in our spars)
