White Belt (1/10)

  1. Has anyone purchased the Spin Kick wall mounted target? http://www.martialartsmart.net/2010.html It doesn't look that bad and I was thinking about getting a few since they are only $15. Just wanted to know what your guy’s opinion was first.
  2. Thanks for the help. I found one place on line but they wanted between $300-$600. Forget that.
  3. I am setting up my basement to work out in and I want to get a few of the big mirrors you see in most martial arts schools. Does anyone know of a web site that sells these or a store in the baltimore area? Thanks
  4. So does anyone have any good drills for kids or adult classes. Need some fresh ideas. After 13 years I'm starting to run out.
  5. If you’re looking for a style that will teach you how to kick butt without the other extra stuff thrown in then Kenpo is what you need. Don't get me wrong they have forms but the forms incorporate the techniques that you learn in class. You'll never see a real big front-stance or stuff like that. It is more street savvy than old school traditional. I've been TKD for 20 some odd years and have learned more self-defense stuff in Kenpo in the last 2 years then TKD. Check it out see if it's you cup of tea. http://www.ltatum.com/movies/Week6/TipOfTheWeekMedW6.html This is one of the basic techniques you would learn. Just my two cents.
  6. Just wanted to let you guys and gals know that this forum is great. I stumbled onto it a few weeks ago. Now for a little bit about my self: I'm 27 years old and have been doing MA since I was 5. I started out in TKD but over the years and instructors (there has been allot), I have trained in TKD, KENPO, and a little GAIJIN RYU JIU-JITSU. I am a member of the AAU and the World Combat Arts Federation. At this point I am a 4th Dan in TKD and have been teaching since I was 14. Although TKD is what I have done the longest, I have migrated away from it and found a new love, KENPO. Anyway, I just wanted to say what’s up and to say that this is a great forum. I'm real interested in seeing what and how you guys teach, cause after 12 years of teaching I need to get some new drills and stuff for my students as well for me too.
  7. This is not the same situation but I was with my instructor for 10 years and i was his prodigy and when he had to leave he gave me something that ment a great deal to him. He gave me his first black belt (by the way I already had one). Now I know alot of people my not like that kind of thing but as a sixteen year old kid that looked to this man as a father it was the greatest thing I could ever have gotten (material thing at leats). I have woren that belt since that day. I've gotten others because of rank but this one will the one that means the most to me. Hopefully I will be able to pass it down to someone one day, that is if it doesn't fall apart first.
