  1. muay thai is harder than you think. Some techniques such as slipping is very hard since you have to slip on certain moves since you can also get set up to get kicked/kneed/elbowed on the face from your slip. You can't expect to become a master or average muay thai fighter after 5 months. In Thailand kids start training (train all day every day) at 8 and fight until they are in their late 20s.
  2. it is up to the 5 year old to learn karate. If you see in the first classes that hes just goofing off, or just not interested in it wait until he/she gets a little older then ask him/her if he/she wants to try out karate again. with age limit, there's muay thai fighters in thailand who started training when they were 5-8, by the time they are 15 they become professional. Also if you search on the internet you will find videos of kids as young as 4 years old doing amazing martial arts moves.

  4. actually, there is a reason why some people like MMA/muay thai/kickboxers shave their legs. If you get checked(blocked from a kick),shin to shin contact or anything else like that. It is easier and better when rubbing the bump off(rubbing it upwards)
  5. man you gotta remember that when you step in the cage/ring, you're fighting against people who have been crossed trained and most likely are capable of taking inmense damage. If you live in cali, there are tons of places to train, and many amateur mma shows here. In training to be more specific, you'd have to mainly crosstrain in jiu jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, and boxing. Crosstraining is very good because you will get used to how to take a punch, will be able to trade, defend yourself when youre on guard, get excellent cardio, etc. If you've watched some Pride Fights(For example, Final Conflict. Minotauro vs CroCop) CroCop would have to wait for the referee to stand up Minotauro because he had no ground experience, and got in deep trouble once he got taken down.
  6. it depends on the situation(like others say) if it's like a gang of people and youre alone, just run for it. if you are with your friends and theyl fight with you, then fight the people off, but do not let them take you down or you take them down to the ground. It can get brutal on the ground(people kick you on the head/ribs). if you fight someone 1 on 1 then just use punches/elbows, if he tries to take you down, jump back, then grab him by the head and knee him in the head. IF you feel like hes not going to be able to fight cause you hurt him bad from the knee/elbow/punches then just stop. Remember, don't throw more punches/knees/elbows than you need to, once you feel like hes out or hes not going to try to trade with you, dont keep punching him. If he tries to press charges and you only traded with him until he dropped to the ground or he did not want to continue it is self defense. If after you dropped him you start stomping him on the face and stuff then youre in deep trouble. i wouldnt recommend kicking in a street fight cause you can get taken down from them, plus if youre wearing pants the kicks wont be as effective (unless you use a push kick or something like that). if weapons are used, my best advice is to run, but if you have been taught those weapon disarming techniques you can do that at your own risk. remember, you're responsible for your actions. Act in Self Defense wisely!
