White Belt (1/10)

  1. Mu Ryuk, Do you only practice one Bassai form? or both Bassai So and Bassai Dae?
  2. 80$? More than I pay, but I have heard some prices like 150 $ a month which seems kinda crazy.
  3. I don't think that is an issue, I mean, jsut b/c it was metal does mean it was expensive. They had metal, they weren't in the stone age.
  4. Actually, it makes sense for sais to be made of metal. Usually carts had some kind of piece that bound a front and backcart piece together, which had to be stronger than the cart, which was wood. a good sai technique? open it to parry a thrust and then jab it into their arm.
  5. I paid 300 I think for my 1st Dan maybe 350... But most organizations have some flat fee to pay to the organization then the instructor may charge what he or she wishes. Money... what an interestingly painful concept.
  6. It is great to see the turn out and the replies from all the artists. Keep posting guys and gals. Keep asking questions. For example, who knows Pat Johnson and what his contribution to our art is?
  7. Well if you are looking for a traditional Korean Art, I suppose Tang Soo Do would be great. lol. It is a great art, really. you Muay Thai can only accentuate your training in Tang Soo Do's strikes, but you will find it versitility too.
  8. -hoagie/sub/zeps/ poorboys/grinders sales -Movie Nights ( play a movie on a big screen/ wall with pop and snacks for like 2-3 bucks a head, but really only good with little kids) -Tag Days with a nice little kid demo team (if applicable)
  9. 10 years and 9 months Tang Soo Do Yes kata, 1-steps, self-defense techniques & maneuvers. Not Applicable Yes Yes, such information has been provided in our handbooks. The repetition of basic techniques is mention a number of times in numberous ways in the 14 attitudes required to master tang soo do, and the points on physical mental and spiritual development. In Mastering Tang Soo Do, one, thus, in turn, has mastered the selfdefense, the philosphy, the art forms included in the system art.
  10. In meditation, the idea is not to ignore all thought, but to exhaust all thought so that the only possible solution is to think nothing (not think of nothing b/c that is something, think nothing). As ideas pop into your head, think about them, understand them, and move on as your find and exhaust each thought. We use meditation to clear the mind, to clear the mind, you must know what is in the way, and the to do that is to think the thoughts in your head until they are thought out. (until they are thunk, lol)
  11. If you want decent quality, $3000-$5000, easy, order from like Japan or Korea. Why do they cost that much? Proper balancing and full tangs (the tang is the part fo the sword in the handle, if anyone doesn't know that term). Plus, the strength of the blad itself, not just the sharpness. The material put into it is relatively cheap, it is forging the sword that is the art form.
  12. Jlee, to answer directly. No, it isn't all legs/prettymuch all legs. It is far more balanced than TKD in that aspect.
  13. Does anyone here practice an art, or are highly proficient with Twin/double/weilding two Swords?
  14. I agree with you TangSooGuy. People say that it is pointless to do that, but I feel it is important to understand the devestating ability of many of those combinations.
