White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I am willing to bet that 98% of you people that disagree with teaching kids MA, DO NOT have kids of your own. Do i think that kids should get brn belts and blk belts, no I do Not (I am not sure what age those belts should awarded). My 5 year old just got a yellow stripe and I can not wipe the grin off face. Do I think its a REAL yellow stripe (so-to speak) of-course not. Does my kid have a clue what it all means, not really, all that matters is the KID IS HAVING FUN. The thing is, the Sensei made it clear to all the parents that this is a class for the kids to get started in MA and have some fun after school. And if the kids wont to keep going they will have to work hard AND test again for there belts. I do UNDERSTAND where you people are coming from. There are a couple of teenagers in my class that I could do with out, but give the kids a chance you might be surprised at how good they do.
  2. "You looking to purchase VHS videos or download videos? I know a site with still images --- would that help?" I am looking for the FREE thing over the web. But if I have to spend some money, thats ok to. I have been to this site and it is good. http://www.isshinryu.com/default.htm
  3. ...been there done that. (No good) thanks
  4. I may-be new to MA and this Forum BUT i am not new to this world. And I for one think that if you cant do a simple thing like bow (which in my way thinking is better then a hand shake) then you should find something else to do with your time (and money). Think about. If you go into a place of worship or even some sort of club and dont follow the RULES you will most likely be asked to follow the rules or leave. Dont get me wrong here if your DOJO THINKS this not bowing thing is OK. then I guess thats alright. But where does it stop?
  5. Does anyone know if there is a place on the WEB that has video of someone doing there Isshinryu kata and mabybe even there basics? Also looking for a web-site that has Audio of the propure Okinawan pronunciation of all the basics (kicks). thanks
  6. I am back in it for the first time in 12 years (i am 35) And I wish I had never quit.
  7. I am so glad I had look at this forum. I was kinda worried that I started at to old an AGE. But I am only 35 so I guess its not so bad. Thanks everyone.
