  1. I will be hosting a children's karate tournament early next year. My question is about trophies. I have taken my son to a couple of tournaments and I have noticed the trophies are 36 inches and above for first place. I am now trying to buy some trophies and have seen trophies at a very high cost. I do not feel as if the other promoters are having to pay as much. Can someone please help direct me to a place where I can purchase trophies at a good cost. I am open for all ideas. Thank you
  2. Well, I recently spoke to the instructor of my son's school, and told him that I will be taking his classes in august. After a lot of thought I figured it will be great for me and my son. I really like being involved with him and joining the adult class I feel will keep him motivated in it. He recnetly just got promoted to a little dragons brown belt. After a yr. and a half of training and practicing it has paid off for him. I was very proud as was he.
  3. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas on a good cheap insurance company that will do tournaments. Would be much appreciated. Thanks
  4. I have been thinking about joining. I think it is a very good style. I watch the classes every time and I learn what my son learns. I take it home and he practices and when he has questions I am able to help him. But knowing what he knows and watching all the new material he gets, make me want to do it, but there is that little thing in the back of my head that makes me nervous....
  5. just wanted to thank everyone else for their hospitality.
  6. Thank you for the hospitality. The childrens program ranges from 6 to 8, but my son was allowed to enter when he was 5. The little dragons program allows them to learn their basics, and different self defense techniques. 3 techniques per belt. They also learn Form 1 in different phases per belt. Also a couple of kicking sets, block sets, universal sets, and elbow sets. So I guess I would say it would be considered a half program cause they learn all the moves, just not all the forms or self defense techniques as the adults. He very much likes American Kenpo. In his first tournament he took 1st in forms and 2nd in point sparring. Our next one will be the U.S. Open in Fla. this year. Take care
  7. I thank you for your replies. Anything and everything will help. I do plan on doing this for the local area and of course for my son. I do plan on taking my time on preparing for the tournament, giving myself at least 10 months of preparations. I hope with your ideas and everyone else who helps reply to my questions will help me in running a very organized event. If anyone else feels they may have some good ideas for me preparing or running my tournament please respond back to me. Thanks
  8. A blonde goes to the doctors office for help. Finally, the doctor sees the blonde and asks what her problem is. The blonde says, "Every time I touch my knee it hurts, and every time I touch my breasts it hurts, and every time I touch my head it hurts. Can you please help me doc. " Well the doc. examines her for a sec, and says I found the problem. The blonde replies, "What is it doc." The doc. says your finger is broke.
  9. I am wanting to know some information on how I can get started into promoting local tournaments for my area. I would also like some ideas on what people think would help me run a nice organized event. My son really likes tournaments, and I am tired of having to travel all over the place, since we have none here. I feel this will also help bring more attention to the arts in my area. I have a meeting on monday with the parks and recreation area in my city. I am hoping this meeting will help enlighten me on some of the aspects invlolved into promoting. Any information you all can give me will be most helpful and appreciated. Thanks
  10. Hello all. I am new here. I don't personally study martial arts anymore but my son does. He is 6 years of age and is a little dragons green belt with one tip. He has currently been studying American Kenpo Karate for about 14 months now. I signed up to this forum because I currently would like to see what is going on in the martial arts world and I have a few questiongs to ask. Thank you all
