White Belt (1/10)

  1. Guys! check out https://www.twinsthaiboxing.com They have great prices and sales on Twins gear. Gloves are on sale for $29.95. Shorts priced as low as $19.00. And of course, EVERYONE NEEDS SHINGUARDS! Twins is a top brand and I've looked around and found that these are great prices. If you buy your gear, definitely link this site to your dojo or gym site so you never lose the link. Oh yeah, they make custom gloves and shorts and stuff for really cheap too!
  2. I train in Kyokushin. My buddy just got his black belt under an Ed Parker school in Pasadena and now he is "allowed" to wear the black gi. He wants to know what either Ed Parker himself used or what the most popular, if not "official" brand is for American Kenpo. Most of his senpai use Shureido, as does his sensei, but the gi that he was issued when he first signed up was a Macho. That is why he is confused. Personally, when I get better, I'm getting an Isami K-700 for sure. https://www.Isami.co.jp
  3. What is the official Gi used by American Kenpo stylists from Ed Parker's Organization. I've seen the patch of the association, but I cant read the brand on the label of the gis. I know that: Shotokan JKA uses Tokaido Kyokushin IKO uses Isami
  4. Try Isami Gi's They are the gi of choice for Kyokushin fighters. https://www.isami.co.jp
  5. Try ISAMI gi's They are designed for the full-contact Kyokushin type tournaments. They are the gi of choice for Kyokushin fighters. https://www.isami.co.jp
  6. Can someone give me a rundown on the difference between a Kyokushin tournament and a "full-contact" american Kenpo tournament. Also, is that Bruce Lee/ Ed Parker Kenpo tournament in Long Beach still going on?
  7. The official Brand used in Kyokushin is ISAMI. The website is https://www.isami.co.jp Most of the gi worn by black belts that we see competing in Kyokushin tournaments wear ISAMI. They are recognizable with the blue Kyokushin kanji embroidered on the left breast and the tags on the lower lapel say "Karate Kyokushinkai" and the Kanku. The common model is K-700. ISAMI manufactures this gi without the Kyokushin marks because a lot of styles use ISAMI as well. eg Seidokaikan, Shidokan, Enshin, Ashihara... The gi is very heavy and very sweat absorbent. It is also very tough. The standard model is K-450 (same as K-700 but without the Kyokushin marks), which is the typical full-contact heavyweight gi used by most black belts of many styles. If you are looking for what in the opinion of many is the best gi on the planet, then get ISAMI K-700 and if you want you can have them embroider your style and put your style's custom tag on the bottom of the lapel. Shotokan guys like Tokaido, Goju guys like shureido. If you are a karateka who already has these and looking for a new gi, try out an ISAMI K-450. ISAMI also makes other models of different weights, all depends on what you are looking for.
