Our school is a bit strange (exaggerated) in its gradings. You start with no sash, then white, yellow, orange,...., black. The highest ranking student has orange. He's been training there for several years but it's just so difficult. When i tested for white at the end of the test i came very close to the point where i had to vomit because i was physically exhausted. Fortunatly i pulled through and passed. As for the test itself, it starts with a 3km run, when you arrive it's 25 push-ups, 2 push-ups with just left arm and 2 with right arm, about a 100 kicks after that, then all the basics and froms (takes about 45min), then a 2min horse stance, some chin-na and then breaking some roof tiles as an iron hand test. All of this is without any pause. For yellow you basicly multiply everything by 2, with more forms and basics. Most people change school after they got their white sash, i'm considering the same.

We do mostly iron hand and arms exercises. Things like hitting a sandbag a couple of hundred times (with back of the hand, knife hand, finger tips, etc), push-ups on knuckles, several sparring exercises where you hit your opponents forearm with yours again and again,etc... From your other post i get you practice northern shaolin, with what kind of iron body techniques do they torture you with? -

Sounds like a form i know, do you also make use of locks (chin-na) in it? Starts with a couple of kicks, a low stance and only then do you make contact with your opponent? Don't remember the name of the form though it was thrown in as a change from all the other forms we were practicing at the time and we only practiced it for a week. I'll ask around for the name this week . I also practice northern shaolin btw, plenty of longfist forms as well. -
I need a new computer, how's this one look?
sAtelitte replied to krunchyfrogg's topic in General Chat
i wouldn't worry about it If you want to lower the price a bit you can cut down on the Pentium 4 and DDR SDRAM memory. 2.8Ghz and 512MB DDR are certainly a bit much for just using the internet, it depends on how "graphical" the games are you play, but i don't think late 90's games require such resources either. -
Most hated/killer excersise?
sAtelitte replied to Akaineko's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The one which gives me a cold chill down my spine, We have to carry a partner of about the same weight and height on our back and move up and down the "dojo" floor in low stances. Really painfull if you went too low and are struggling not too fall backwards. Why does everyone hate running? I hated it too at first but then last summer i found two really nice girls to run with and i really improved on my running ever since It's just a question of finding good motivation -
A couple of weeks ago i searched the internet for places where you could buy katanas, Wakizashi, tanto, etc Here's what i found: bugei (argueably the best and most expensive) https://www.bugei.com http://www.swordforumbugei.com/gallery/ their swordgallery CAS/Hanwei (Paul chen) http://www.thesteelsource.com/html/hanwei.htm Also intresting: http://www.nootrope.net/firstsword.html http://www.mantisswords.com/swords.htm It's not really on topic but i hope this helps.

I'm going to pat myself on the back for this one!
sAtelitte replied to SloMo's topic in General Chat
Congrats SloMo If i may ask; did you stop immeadiatly or did it take some time? I find it strange (impressive?) how some people who smoked for years can just stop one day while most try about 20 times and still fail. My father stopped one day after 20 years and never smoked again while with some friends i already lost count on how many times they tried. btw i never smoked, never saw any reason to start with it in the first place -
I can imagine if it were me standing there and seeing the whole thing happening i'd probably be stunned as well, i doubt i'd have the reflex to immediately come to her aid. In those 10 maybe 20 seconds i would be surprised/stunned/shocked first. In this situation the women would be in the trunk already before i'd snap out of it. So i have my doubts your MA training would change your reaction in those first seconds. Doesn't take away that those people who saw it should have called the police.

lol, nice reference It's a male ego thing i guess, girls have no problems talking about how good other girls look. But a guy... if i would say "hey that guy looks good" my friends wouldn't look at the guy but stare at me thinking "wtf what are you saying???" Still what's the problem with telling people which actor you find most attractive? Doesn't mean you want to start humping their exhaust
-
ah sorry, you're right. i mixed them up You were talking about cute actresses in goldeneye and i immediately thought of famke janssen
-
I think you mean Femke Janssen, she was natalya. The one time a dutch actress gets into a big famous movie and then people forget her name... male: vinnie Jones (the guy who played sphinx in gone in 60 seconds and Bullet Tooth Tony in Snatch) female: helen hunt and Leelee Sobieski

I go to my training twice a week, on wednesday and friday evenings. I stopped training in july and august though because it got too busy but started back again a few weeks ago. Now i wish i didn't take the break because i got my belt test comming up next week and i'm sooooo out of shape

Strange situation i got in a couple of weeks ago: Went to a party in a neighberhood where there are always people looking for a fight. Normally that's not a problem if you got enough friends with you. But in this case it was just me and 8 other girls(i'm really not exaggerating here, couple of friends who brought their friends which made 8, the fact that it was just me and all those girls made me a little blind to the risk though ). Anyway when the party was going and i was dancing on the dancefloor i suddenly feel en elbow hitting me hard in my back, i look back, see some tough guys standing behind me with their back towards me but they didn't react, they were just standing there. I ignored the whole thing and kept partying. 5minutes later same thing happens again, still with their backs towards me and acting like nothing happend. I realize i'm in trouble and started thinking that it might be time to leave dancefloor but before i do i get hit again and when i turn around these three guys about same age as me (21) are standing in front of me. The guy in the middle started yelling at me that i should stop pushing him or he'll smash my face into the bar (the exact words he used ) Normally i'm a quiet guy and i knew the smartest thing to do was to apoligize even tough it was he pushing me. But i didn't, instead i got angry at the guy and clearly told him it was he pushing me and not the other way around. This didn't help the situation of course and after some more argueing he suddenly stopped yelling and took a step back, i thought he was going to take a swing at me for sure(i was convinced from the first moment the guy start yelling at me that a fight was inevitable, knowing fights happen so frequently there). The strangest thing was that at this point he turned around and walked away... I still don't understand what just happend then, he picked a fight with me (with no mates near me i was an easy target) and suddenly when the moment came to strike he walked away while he had two friends backing him up and i none. I'm not even sure who was the smartest guy in that situation either. Smart of him to leave and stupid of me not apoligizing. The only thing i concluded from this was that i'm never going out again with a bunch of girls without some mates who i can rely on, some of those girls i knew for years yet they didn't interfere when things went wrong. Making things worse was the fact that they're very attractive which caused some drunk guys to harrase them and i could then solve that problem getting me in more trouble. Learned my lesson..... Voila my biggest post yet hope you guys can make some sence of it cause english really isn't my best language.
