  1. Great question ! How do you use your abdomen ? My instructor told me that it sounds like my kiyap is coming from my throat and not my voice, and that I sound uptight. So what sound would make me use my abdomen ?
  2. That's right, with age comes experience, and hopefullyt the ability to impart some of that wisdom on the youngsters. In the teen class that I attended last night with my son, I think that I was the only one who seemed to focus on the task at hand. Not patting myself on the back mind you, just saying that when adults are in class, they usually want to be there. By the way, had my first sparring session last night (with my son) !
  3. KSN Doug, Interesting - how long have you been training in tkd ? how about the kids ? I find tkd particularly interesting since given my competitive nature, my son feels that I do not have the "upper hand" on him in tkd, which I think incents him even more !! In fact, our Master has continued to advance my son ahead of me, which I absolutely support.
  4. SaiFightsMS You are correct my friend !! It certainly takes me longer than the kids, expecially the hapkido !!! Really enjoying it and I think it is something that my son enjoys doing with me as well ! Thanks everyone for the enthusiastic welcome !
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Just some quick background information - I am currently and orange belt, 40 yrs old, and have been doing tkd now for 6 months, with my teenage son. Really enjoying myself, and it's great to be able to train with my son. Lots to learn, but who's rushing ??!!
