I know, and i've tried, but he also has some realy good hand teqneques, usualy i try to move in i have to first duck a kick and as my head comes up i get nailed with a backfist in the head or if i block high a punch lands in my midsection. It's a hard loosing battle, but it defintenly makes me better -
I agree with treebranch, to keep your strength you have to be constantyly working out, tactics wonce you learn them will stay with you alot longer than your strength. Take akido for example, the whole point of it is using the oponents weight and strength against them. Although like i said earlier you have to have enought strength to back up the tequneques but it's tecneque you learn, and like you said earlier with tecneque comes strength.

teepe (Push front kick) and a quick punch to the head. -
this thread is for little things on NASKA sparring rules, for example i wen't to a tornament recently and after i got back i found out that they didn't score jabs, (punches though), i probably lost my match because of that. this thread is to post little things like that to help noob's when they first go to tornaments for the first time.

for most people tacktics seem to be the better cookie, and rightly so, but it has to be a balance, you cant have one without the other, ex you can study tactics all your life but if you don't have enough speed and power you cant back the tequneques up. Its like saying to your hand that it's more important than your feet. Your hand is usless with out your feet just as raw power is usless without teqnique.

low high combos seem to work well if you have enough speed and control, they've worked a good many times for me. -
axe kicks are cool
-
my guess is that it depends on what your trying to do, if your trying to score points in a tornament then your speed and control is the most important, if your trying to get a knockout at a kickboxing tornament then you want to focus more on power and breaking. that just my way of thinking bout it.

one combo i saw at a tornament recently was a push kick to the midsection and at the same time a quck pucnching combo to the head. The guy who used that combo got first to... -

I didn't read the artical but from what i've experenced a actual instructor is much better than a vidio, u just cant replace that personalized instruction with a vidio, i could however see using the vidio to help practise at home, while also going to a dojo for the instructor based instruction.

I did learn a little akedo (spelling?) so i do know how to do some things, but i was wondering if any of you guys could tell me where some of the pressure points are located and how to do submission techneques.

At my school (ASK) we usaly do somewhat in the nature of 20-45 pushups, situps and jumpin jacks. Then we strech, the warmup will very depending on who's doing it. After we've warmed up our instructor starts our lesson.

if someone lunged at me i would probably sidstep and use there own momentum against them to push them off balance and then nail them with a fast combo.

one techneque i find usfule is when someone throws a punch at you block it in such a way that it pushes there arm away, then just do a quick jab or a combo.
