You must try Karate especially Shotokan. I myself practice Shotokan and i see loads of people built along your lines . And they are really successful. Dont worry about inflexibility youll get flexible

How does the belt grading system go in your country. In Turkey it goes. White --6th Kyu Yellow -- 5th Kyu Orange -- 4th Kyu Green -- 3rd Kyu Blue -- 2nd Kyu Brown -- 1st Kyu Black Black with a Dan Diploma -- Shodan Black 2 Dan -- Nidan .............................. In my country a dan is like a teaching license. It is given only to those who have 18 years of age. But you can be blackbelt without a dan. That is like betwwen Kyu and Dan. Do you have red, purple, pre-black etc. belts in your country? Do you have two Kyus wearing same colour? Please let me know. Especially The Japanese system. Thank You

In turkey people without a dan can have a black belt. But they are not allowed to teach. They are only sempai. And you cant get a dan if you aren't 18 years of age. I think it is a great system.

I am ready to enter my first belt exam. I am about to have a yellow belt. I am asked to perform: Taikyoku Shodan, Nidan, Sandan, Yondan ,Godan and Heian Shodan. Also a number of other kihon. What do you suggest todo in an exam?

See this is the point. I train in Ankara ,Turkey. And i also am very interested in Oriental culture. We never learn the Turkish meanings. We always do them in Japanese. But that is interesting. But sometimes the sensei do some exams to try and see if we can figure out the meanings.
