  1. I know the rumor is true, Sims did leave. Although I'm not sure why. In my opinion it's sad though. He was awesome to watch demo, and from what I hear one of the best to train under.

  3. we do about the same, we work our techniques for about 30min. Lately it's been a lot of technique. Along with what KSN Doug stated, usually 1 night a week. But lately its been working into form(Hyung) nights towards the end of class
  4. Sorry krzy... But it only gets better. Aside from all those push ups, I left out all the low and slow Hyung we did, along with combo kicks etc... 2 hours of physical testing .. Wheeew ..But all in all, once you get through it, it really is like a big accompishment. Well, it is for me anyway.. I don't personally know Sa Bum Nym Mike, but I have meet him at BB testing, and I think he would be a great instructor. Plus the way he runs the tests, you can just tell, that he knows his stuff. I did forget to mention on our last test, he made all the Bblack Belts 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th... do the push ups with us.. That was a site to see.
  5. My last 2 tests have been lead by Sa Bum Nym Mike from meyerland.. I can't even remember how many push ups we did last test.. I seem to remember half way through we were already at 100..BUT... I do remember by that time, I had to go to my knees for them.
  6. we also do stance training all the time at our dojang, and horse stance is a primary one. The idea we are taught, is that if your horse stance is strong, and you train in low stances all the time, then when you ascend to your fighting stance, your legs will be even stronger. I doubt on the street, you will drop down into a horse stance to take on an attacker. So from our standpoint it is a training method.

  8. I've just always heard that, when they train, they don't really question the instructors, like people here in the States. But then again, this is only hear say, I have never been fortunate enough to go train in Korea.. Would love to though!
  9. agreed with JaseP, Slow the kicks down, even if you have to use something to balance with, until you gain that strength.. 1 excercise we do all the time, is what we call rolling back... So sit on your but straight up, pull feet in flat so knees are up, then arms out to your side fingers spread, roll back slowly, and pull your legs all the way over your head, and try and touch the toes to the ground.. great stretch.
  10. outside kick move the hands, followed by front kick to mid section. opponent attacks with round kick or round house, circle step, side kick to mid section. fake round to mid section, hook kick to mid section, or if you have the flexiblilty, to the head. round to side, then immediately raise up round to head. always use your hands, and watch your opponents eyes, and shoulders.
  11. Good question Tanjin, I guess when we talk about mediation, we don't really hit on the energy aspect, or at least I don't(probably should). We normally just talk about clearing your mind and foucs on the task you are about to start. I guess you could say we are using our internal energy to prepare our minds. I'll have to think about this one...

  13. we do the same for sparring. Sparring classes are usually 2 nights of the week, and we also don't practice the point method, until tournament time gets closer. We'll go 1-1.5 minute rounds, break and switch partners. Not so often do we do multiple opponents, but we probably should do more of that .
  14. excellent gald to hear it... I'm about to take my 6th Black Belt test, and who knows how many more. But I'm really enjoying every step of the way as well.
