  1. I'm thinking about getting a 100 lb. bag but I'm not sure how to hang it. I have a garage and I guess I could hang it in there but I'd rather hang it in my basement. My basement has like a 12 ft. ceiling but I just don't know how to hang it or if I need to modify the ceiling using support boards or something like that. If anyone has done this or has any idea where to find info about how to do it I'd like to know because I've searched and haven't been able to find anything. Also, I found a bagstand by TKO that seemed like it might possibly be in my price range. If anyone has used one I'm interested to know how well they work because I hit really hard. All help greatly appreciated.
  2. okay, the three people thing might have been a little much, but I just want to be comfortable with my fighting ability. I was looking at muay thai a little and it seems like it suit me well. I'm not sure though because it seems like it might damage me too much. But there is a BBJ place near where I live. I don't know much about it but it sounds cool. My biggest problem is I live in a smaller city and there aren't many schools for the less known arts. But please keep suggesting them because I plan on moving someday. Thanks.
  3. Okay I'm 6 foot and 190 pounds. I'm looking for a style that will allow me to incapacitate up to about three people at a time. I'm young so age isn't a problem. Something that involves pressure points, throws, striking, and kicking (I guess that's pretty much all you can do) would be good. Also, knocking out and breaking some stuff is fine but I really don't want to screw up anyone's life--breaking someones knees so they can't work or something. Something that is a good defense against boxing is also a must since a lot of people I know box. Sorry if these requests are strange/difficult to accomodate. Thanks.
  4. I'm 16 and from Washington (the state). I'm embarrassed to say that I have no MA training, unless you include the three months of Karate I took when I was 6, but nevertheless am constantly fascinated by all forms of the fighting arts. I've spent a lot of time just reading different posts and figured that I might as well become a member. I am planning to begin the search for a good school and feel fortunate to find a community of martial artists who are willing to give their advice (in my area MA isn't too big). Well anyway I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully becoming a skilled artist/killing machine . P.S. I really like this introduction section and I think I'll mention it to some of the other forums I belong to.
