White Belt (1/10)

  1. Who cares about DJ's. It's the producer that's important. I'm pretty sure Lil Jon put down the track for Youngbloodz. He's one of the best producers now
  2. I agree. Each martial art suits people differently. For me, I just feel that my legs are my best weapon. Since WC uses very few kicking techniques, I feel that I'm wasting my potential. I like to mix WC (mainly for defense), TKD (for the kicking), and boxing (punching). I know it takes time to develop strength in WC's straight punch, but I just feel that it restricts the power from your whole body. Even though WC emphasizes that you shouldn't use the local muscles, and that you should use your entire structure, I feel that you're only using your arm to punch, which isn't as strong as if you put your whole body in to it, such as a right cross in boxing. In WC, I feel that you're mainly using the muscles from the shoulder down to the fist, and maybe the legs a bit, during the moment of impact. It reminds me of a strong jab with the fist in a vertical position. In boxing, you put your upper torso and legs in to the punch. For me, it feels much more natural. I feel that I can inflict more damage from a right cross than a straight punch, IN MY PRESENT LEVEL OF TRAINING. I don't really train in boxing, I just use the basic punching techniques, which would come natural to many people.
  3. Who was that young a$$ guy who was 16 or something, and was a champion? That guy was pretty funny in his first fight when he got knocced out by a flimsy punch. What's going on with Sokeem "the machine" or? he was pretty good
  4. I like Roy Jones because of his ability to humiliate his opponents (even though some of his opponents are garbage men, part-time cops, and other nobodies). I also like Bernard Hopkins for standing up to Roy Jones. That was really funny when he was having an interview with someone, and he said that Roy has probably been eating the dog food instead of feeding to his pitbulls. And finally, I like Ferocious Fernando Vargas. Even though his career is collapsing, he had that wicced haircut from before. I can't forget about that.
  5. The bodybuilder won't know how to react to a boxer. I'm sure a lot of big guys, once they get into a fight, they will start flinging they arms around. But I'm sure if you get hit by the arms, it would hurt a lot. If you have moderate strength and are lucky, then you'll have a chance at taking a big guy down, provided that you can land a straight cross directly on the side of the jaw. If you're a small guy, then your chances are not good. I'm not sure any throw or hold will help either.
  6. Speaking of bloodsport, I would've liked some more info about Frank Dux. I read that book by him (can't remember the title), and it had some pictures of him breaking some records and such. There was one picture of him sitting, with 23 people trying to pull him up, and they couldn't. That was one of the world records (I don't know if it still is now). Van Damme is a fool. Has anyone seen his first movie? He was playing a gay cab driver or something. Lol. About Bruce Lee, after reading the article, all you can say is you'll never know. The provided accounts are contradictory. But fake or not, he had a huge impact on martial arts.
  7. Thanks to Kirves and Prodigal Son. Yeah, our class is taught by a young guy. We meet once a week for two hours. He said his grandmaster was taught by Yip Man. Yup, we've started doing chi sau in lesson number 7 or something. But the very first thing he had us do, was the first form siu lim tau, or something like that. About my points. #3- Of course. I meant against HIM. I wouldn't dare do it to someone who has been doing WC for years. I know I would be jammed up. #4- We have done chain punching mainly as an exercise, so he hasn't told us how to defend our lower gates while in the act of punching. My point was that this guy was an idiot for believing he was invincible within two months of class. If someone asked me if I thought that my WC teacher could beat my old TKD teacher, my answer would be yes. From what I've seen, a seasoned WC fighter would beat most other martial artists. But with time. I just wish I could go back to my old TKD school and use the skills that I've picked up, and will pick up from WC! I remember when I used to spar with other students. Imagine some 6 foot woman doing a jumpiing side kick five times in a row. What a joke!
  8. I started doing wing chun a couple of months ago. I like it's simplicity. But I find that some people go way overboard with it's effectiveness. For example, I was practicing with another student who started the same time as me. After about 8 classes, he claims he can use wing chun to beat any other style. We were doing sticky hands, and he's obviously practised more than me, so he's countering me all the time. So he starts acting all overconfident. He tells me don't be so tense, or he can push me over. This is ridiculous, because it was me who was pushing him baccwards. I tell him that I did TKD, so it's hard to drop everything I learned from that. He starts saying that he can easily beat me, since I need room to kick, and he can just walk up to me and keep chain punching my face! This bloody rookie! This is his first martial art, and now he thinks he's Yip Man. Okay, now if it were in a parking lot, I would've knocced him out, but out of respect, I didn't. Some of his fallicies I wanted to point out: 1. If someone tries to tackle you, it's VERY hard to punch their head and knocc them out before they make contact with you. 2. If we both punch, we won't automatically start doing sticky hands. 3. I don't need much room to kick. A jump spinning back kick doesn't require much room at all. 4. If you keep chain punching, you leave your lower body wide open to something like a knee strike or a body shot. 5. Chain punching will not knocc someone out, unless you're really strong, or it's a flash knoccdown. Sorry if I seem like I'm saying wing chun is bad. I'm not. I really like it's simplicity, and how you develop reactionary skills. I just really wanted to blow off some steam.
