  1. Well ...everyone is gonna have something different to say, and I do think that their are many styles that work well but most of them concentrate on one thing..for example judo is primarily used for ground combat etc....I am a big fan for Muay Thai as being one of the best not only martial arts but sports out there...It consists of using your Hands, Feet, Elbows, Knees, Clinch Work, Counters, etc....even taking your opperent to the ground is used.....you have to consider the over all not just what seems to work well.
  2. I don't want to get into the debat over what is better, but the truth is that a kickboxer or thaiboxer should (if train right) have the same skills as a boxer does. The fact is that when I first started training Thai about 12yrs ago my trainer use to be a boxer, and I consider myself to have very good hand skills to match the rest. So to conclude..to have good hand and feet skills along with clinch is just unstoppable!!!!
  3. There are a number of ways to increase punch speed...one is to throw your punchs faster and not as hard...might sound stupid but it works...if your gonna use dumbells use very very very light ones and just shawdow box with them, do not throw full extended punchs fast with them. Other thing you can do is use heavy 16oz or heavier gloves for a couple of months and then use smaller ones...that will also help give speed in the long run...just remember these things don't happen over night...it will take time.
  4. If you are not like that every time you train then you are doing something wrong....this is what thai boxing is all about that makes it different from other martial arts...TRAIN HARD!!!!
  5. It is really simple.....if you are moving forward or to the left your LEAD leg moves FIRST and your back leg follows. If you are moving back or to the right then your BACK leg moves FIRST and lead leg follows. Hope that helps. PS.. Stand in your thai stance and imagine there is a V on the floor, just follow the outline of the V...lead leg, back, back leg, lead leg....
  6. Hey Guys, this is my first time on here, I have been training and fighting in Muay Thai off and on for over 13yrs....I'm looking for someone else to trade some combo's and techniques with from around the country. If you are advanced and have some good training drills and combo's that would be great. I am starting to train fighters myself as well as beginners and I think this would be a great way to share idea's and spread Muay Thai in a postive manner..any help would be great!! Thanks DB
