  1. Excellent topic- I'm working on the 1 and 3" punch. I have the full blown recipe for it and if followed correctly, the power from practicing it, is absolutlely devistating. I'm on my third week and notice a huge change in my reverse punch. During belt testing we have to end up fighting 2-3 lower belts (I'm a lower belt) and both instructors (BB's). Of course you get your ass kicked, but it really makes you feel that you earned your belt. Anyway, I ended up using that sweet reverse (as part of a combo) and ended my first fight right then and there with a "BREAK" (Instructor called out). Obviously, that reverse wasn't a 1 or 3" punch, but still inhances the power tremedously. Good luck with training.
  2. I dont' know if the original poster's are reading this still, but here's my opinion: A #1- 90% of a success is to avoid the confrontation.."let me buy you beer" whatever calms the fool down. #2 - (This is probably what the original question was asking) If the fool decides "F-^* the beer" well here's where the switch gets flipped. I put myself in code RED..as he starts to come near or show other signs of aggression (never wait for the first punch) TAKE the first shot, let it be deadly, the throat, groin, temple, spine...whatever it takes. (Keep in mind, I never asked for this, I wanted to stop this long before it began) Also keep in mind, you don't know what this cat might know, maybe he's looking for your spine or throat. You might ask "how can you hit him in the spine if you’re facing him? Quick kick to the man-berries (Balls) he folds over then a deadly chop to the upper spine, behind the neck...GAME OVER. I live by the saying: "I'd rather be tried (Jury) by twelve than carried by six (pall bearers)"
