Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. reasonable enough, and I suppose the expectations from the beginning would be more acceptable for MMA, which allows for more standup grappling. Tuite/kyoshu jutsu techniques were used in a lot of the Bunkai I've seen from Okinawan styles. It would be fascinating to watch those techniques (when timed well) performed on someone actively engaged.
  2. I agree with the blueprint you presented. I'm hoping it takes on a life of its own and integrates more traditional Karate elements (especially bunkai..any bunkai for goodness sake) I don't want KC to become WKA, but I do want them to dress differently (not that WKA is bad) "So it's MMA without grappling...nice.." is a common comment on KC YT videos.
  3. yep, Ill stick to traditional Shotokan etiqutte
  4. It's not my style of Karate, though, because there are several key characteristics in their style that aren't as prominent as in conventional Shotokan. They have a YouTube channel, for example, where one of their videos shows them teaching their version of Oi tzuki. Chinzo's backfoot is entirely lifted during the performance, which was a big no-no for me when I was training all the time. Keep the back foot firmly and sink your weight into the punch, we were taught. A YouTube viewer inquired about it, and their channel responded "Attacking stance is poor; back heel is up" the Machida channel says, "heel down and plant to the ground does not applicable in real life.""
  5. Id like to see all the fancy bunkais be applied in battles or the main stage. I was also a strong advocate of the Karate culture and the direction it was taking. So far, Karate Combat appears to be a WKF fight with added ground and pound.
  6. "To be honest, to me, it's just a move/application, and nothing more. Making something that it isn't only hurts the MA and/or its practitioners. Styles of the MA have their methodology/ideology towards that which we're discussing, so I decide to leave that alone to them. " I couldn't have said it any better.
  7. I can't tell you how many times I watched the original as a kid. That film will have a particular place in my heart for the rest of my life. Since Winston stated in the conclusion that he was going to fix the Ecto-1, I heard the next one will feature Winston leading a new team.
  8. Congrats to you Patrick! I bet those first few weeks of lacking sleep was all worth it!! best regards my friend
  9. My all-time favorite was the first one. I wasn't a huge fan of the Hobbit series.
  10. I loved LOTR I had no idea they are making a new one!!
  11. Joe Rogan's spinning side kick and hook kick astounded me. It's perhaps the cleanest, most lethal TKD kick I've ever seen. I'm desperate to find out who his instructor is and what style of TKD he practices so I can follow in his footsteps and potentially acquire the same technique.
  12. I express my sentiments. It would be a dream to be able and live of teaching your passion as opposed to going to your typical 9-5 The truth is (and this is from my previous sensei who also owned his space) running a dojo and depending on it financially is very risk, all the instructors I knew had other jobs.
  13. What type of martial arts classes are you teaching out of curiosity?
  14. i remember they had a Bitcoin sign on the mat when the first started.
  15. Manny Pacquaio, only one to capture twelve major world titles in eight different weight divisions.
