White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. Interesting.. This 'certain club' only lets 8th kyu and above teach WHITE BELTS, usually under the age of 16. As a student becomes more advanced they move on to more advanced classes. I don't believe they get a black belt. obviously you don't know what they look like. Finally, if a brown belt is present at a class that is taught by a lower grade the reasons may be: a) they are training at a class which teaches basics, a very important factor of any karate style. This means they want to improve they're karate by going back to the beggining. b) they have no idea. and theres probably other reasons. Its a great club. if you agree, then you have to expect such a large organization to have a few rusty areas.
  2. yea sure u just 'stumbled' on the site. you were probably searching for another place to bag GKR out
  3. This has become sad. Since u seem so adept at the Japanese language krishnamurthi or however u spell it.. u would know the very fact that the Kanji characters are seperated which means they are two totally different words. But maybe you didn't know that. As for the 'pancho' joke. There are plenty of other Kancho's out there and by making such a demeaning pun out of a respectable title, obviously shows why you are a 'disgruntled' EX Go-Kan-Ryu member, or RM or whatever you reckon you were. As for the belief that numbers are the reason GKR wins. Wrong. It's all about individuals performances and that reflects on the fact that the world and national titles are currently held by GKR members. That can't possible be pure numbers. A man is being ridiculed because he tried out a new idea and made a business as well as a respectable Karate style. The quality of the style is shown in the individuals. As with all styles and especially in the case of a bigger style, there will be some Dojos of a lesser standard. And as for the threat of closing the thread down, it shouldn't have been allowed to open in the first place. I have never seen such a disregard of ettiquete in a group of martial artists. My loyalties will always remain with Go Kan Ryu Karate International and if you don't like it, give me slack on my personal messages and less in public. Your embarassing yourselves. Yours in Karate-Do
  4. bouncing is great. Many people find different ways to bounce. If your out of range with ur opponent than bounce however you like. Closer in, you can't bounce up and down because they may catch your unawares. If you like to pick off or counter then don't move too much. Your not initiating the attack so you don't have to worry about telegraphing. If you are initiating the attack, then fake, fake with all your might if your standing still.
  5. so many things to say. For one thing, you are all martial artists. For everyone who just bagged GKR just think about what you are doing exactly. I have never heard any person from GKR Karate criticize any other style. So why do you criticize them? I find that karate teaches self dicipline, a part of that is keepin thoughts to yourself. For the people who have seen GKR classes. What country, what state did you see them in???? There is a saying that goes 'you are hated, because you are the best' to the martial artists and karate-ka of this forum, is this quote true? GKR is one of the largest Karate organizations in the world. It seems hypocritical that you tell everyone how proud you are of your style, and it isn't contested, but the you yourself contest the fact that GKR Karate-Ka are proud of their style. 'I have worked for GKR and trained in GKR'-Bonny Boy. It sounds a tiny bit like jealousy. Please correct me if i'm mistaken. Did you see Kancho Robert Sullivan while he had stomach cancer, or after radical surgery on his stomach, in which he only now has a quarter of. Watch your words. I am a PROUD member of Go-Kan-Ryu Karate Australia. I am friends with the National All Style champions and I train with the World All Style Champions also. As a fellow Martial Artist, I am disheartened to see one style picked out from the bunch. We are all in this together and our goal in the end is to make this world a better place. Call me naive, but doesn't anyone think this also?
  6. youve gotta remember that by blocking the wrong way it also puts your limbs at risk. it also depends on how healthy the person was blocking the punch and their diet.. everyone knows bout the brittleness of bones through different factors
  7. I dunno if it's been suggested, if your his instructor, why don't you talk to his parents. This is a really serious situation and I'm guessing this is a high school thing which means it's even worse. IT seems the only thing if there is no other alternative is him transferring to another school. thirty, Goodness thats a lot of people bullying one. the polic report might be the way to go.
  8. You could just say ' i don't believe in student/ teacher relationships, Sensei' It's official and its plausible. Good Luck to you mate.
  9. Kicks are excellent for anything below the waist: groin, foot and especially the knee. A good round kick could easily cork someones thigh. Unfortunately, not every one is fast enough to whip out a kick unnoticed (including me). The actual shock when kicked in the head is great, not only because of the physical aspects of power speed. But the mental deflation of confidence when you know that someone could lift there leg and kick you and have absolute control, it is a humbling experience. Hands are excellent. However they do allow people to move in on gaps left open by the punch. There must be a reason why styles were founded with kicks. Or we would all be doing only hand drills in class. its a 60/40 thing in hands way.
  10. sorry if u got the wrong impression Kaju_Ifluenced. I meant MA tournaments, i absolutely agree with what ur sayin. my life has changed dramatically because of Martial Arts. Tournaments are great, they also give a different view on urself and how u train or/and practice compared to another martial arts competitor, but one cannot judge their self defence skills in the ring its different, very very different.
  11. I think that MA's are not so practical for the street, but it is true, u have a feeling even if slight what it feels like. MA's are more for testing your skills against people who also do martial arts. it is a confidence boosting technique and may be as close to the real thing as some people may get.
