Orange Belt (3/10)

  1. The most impressive experience I ever saw was when I got to train with a bunch of Korean masters and it was kinda like an exclusive club, but since i was practically raised by one of the masters he made me come ot pracitce. there were two masters there that were former Hodori and Korean Tigers team memebers but they were showing me Kyuk Too Ki which is liek full contacting kickboxing with grappling, and the way they sparred and counter each other's techniques with throw and locks was simply amazing.
  2. You're welcome Iceman, they are pretty cool, Ive gone through alot of Korean suppliers of websites, and they have tons of different types of uniforms like that with different colors.
  3. as far as what i know from speaking with alot of Korean masters some believe its a uniform for masters, but most ive talked to just require masters to wear them to distinguish them from the regualr uniforms so students can find the master if they need him
  4. I found the book very helpful. But I have been studying Hapkido for some time so its easier to follow the pictures. However Im not sure about the change in Kuk Sool Won Curriculum since the 80s. I dont study Kuk Sool Won but would like to one dy if a school ever opened up in my area. However I enjoyed the book as a reference and would recommend it as so. I hear the Kuk Sool Won authorized textbooks are bette rin detail though.
  5. Probably the 720; it starts off in a spingmotion in one jump execut e alow in/out kikc, the a roundhouse wiht the other leg and land on this foot but beofre you land the kick you finish with a back spinning hook kick with the first kicking leg. It looks nice for demos and such. Like my Master Choi always says adavanced spinning kicks are not used in real combat but are good for conditioning the body with coordination.
  6. EMAIL ME OR INSTANT MESSAGE ME AND I WILL SEND YOU THE FILE OF THE TKD VIDEO
  7. DONNIE DARKO, THE PROPHECY, LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, A TIME TO KILL
  8. MY FAVORITE DEMO KICK IS THE 720 THEN MY FAVORITE KICK IS SPIN HOOK FAVORITE HAND TECHNIQUE: RIDGE HAND I LOVE SHORT STICK TECHNIQUES AND PRESSURE POINT MANIPULATION
  9. I DONT KNOW ABOUT SOME TAEKWONDO MOVIES BESIDES BEST OF THE BEST AND WHEN TAE KWON DO STRIKES (VERY ENTERTAINING) BUT IF YOU CARE TO WATCH KOREAN MOVIES WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES TRY "SWORD IN THE MOON" AND "MUSA" ARE SOME PRETTY COOL MARTIAL ARTS EPIC IN HISTORICAL KOREAN SETTINGS OH AND "BICHUNMOO"
  10. IM SORRY IF MY HOLY GHOST ANALOGY OFFENDED ANYONE BUT IT ACTUALLY DOES GO OVER WELL. I TRY NOT TO ARGUE AND NEVER GET INTO ARGUMENTS BECAUSE I HATE TURNING IT INTO A RELIGIOUS ARGUMENT. MY VIEWS ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM CHRISTIAN BELIEFS SO ITS HARD TO REALTE TO THEIR IDEOLOGY BUT I TRY TO MAKE IT RELATE IN ORDER FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT NOT SAY IT IS THE HOLY GHOST.
  11. i deal with this topic on a daily basis with teaching. My theory is ki is generated through mediation/prayer as Anthropologist of religion see it..For the christians the ki energy would represent the Holy Spirit entering your body and giving you the strength of the lord. Meditation is a form of prayer ..Jesus mediatated/prayed out in the wilderness for 40 days. He received special power form the Holy spirit to overcome Satan's temptations. I see no differenc ehere no matter waht your cultural beleifs are.
  12. I have a question then what about all other Korean martial arts that wear black uniforms like Kuk Sool Won, Hapkido, Haedong Gumdo, Teukong Musool, etc. Are these bastardize martial arts?
  13. there is nothing wrong I find in variatio if its the same country's martial arts. I attempted to learn King Fu but I hated it hafter studying 11 years of Korean styles. They kept telling me I was worng and my instrucotr did not know what he was talking about and it becasue there is variation withing techniques. I find I'd rather be a master of few than a Jack of all trades. Similiar styles with in the same country origin are easier to learn because they are founded on similiar technical foundations. Taichi/qi gong is the only style other than Korean I have been successful with. I enjoy learnng about different style but I guess my body jsut doesnt like ot move in any other fashion
  14. my father studied hapkido and tae kwon do whil ehe was in the military in Korea. He went looking around for a school that met his liking and found one under Master Choi in Elkton, MD. HE wanted me to learn it because he enjyed it so much and I think its one of the strongest bonds but now he cant do it anymore because of injuries and disabilities but its there in his heart.
