  1. Now, im not just saying muay thai just because of the whole kicking. As i see it, a punch is a punch, a kick is a kick. It depends on if the mt or boxer trained harder at the timing, did more co-ordination, lifted more weights, trained more, etc. But over all, a mt would cream a boxer. I doubt, unless with extra cirricular activity, a boxer would have a hard time dealing with all of mt's knees (especially that one move where they jump off the knee and plant thier knee in the dudes face) and elbows. and with all the lock ups and clinches, a boxer would be helpless but to sit there and defend the entire time. Its a fact, the elbow is one of the hardest things on the human body. Harder (if used correctly) than a fist. All a mt would have to do is just constantly pound on one of the boxers legs untill he couldnt shift his weight on it. I doubt many punches would be thrown then. Unless the boxer has a good general instinct to hook under the leg, take him down, and beat the crap outta him, then he is like....a fish in a thing of pudding versus a grizzly bear.
  2. Well considering vale tudo is sorta like muay thai with the knees and stuff, i figured this would be the closest place to put this. Where online are some demonstrations of techniques? This art seems awesome, in that it was MADE for street fighting. People are crazy with fish hooks, eye gouging, etc.
  3. ive got about 4/5 months of experience, lol also 2 stripes (just got it tonight...). I get wrestling lessons from my dad (wrestling team all of highschool and college), which i gotta say is a great help. (Chicken wings and stuff are great when you have em in your guard...requires great leg muscles to hold em there though). heh i do the whole kickboxing thing myself, which i find is the best combination.....it seems natural after kneeing someone to go to the guillotine. Lol kickboxing even has take downs.
  4. well, being a bjj person myself, i would say the best thing to do to counter is (with timing and precision) knee the crap out of thier face. Thats always been my #1 concern. Muy thai, kickboxing, just use the knee. This is one of many, so dont go all crazy on me. Sprawling by the by, is kickin your legs back....but if you dont know any grappling, it wont do you much good considering you dont know where to go from there.....
  5. I dont think they are that pricely. Its cheaper than when i took kuk sool won (80), me and my brother are only takin bjj for 100 (50 each). Plus they provide free uniforms, belts, and spar classes. So far i know of atleast five schools that do this in the texas area. So it doesnt seem to costly. And just because it takes ten years doesnt mean its all a rig to get peoples money. Im only a white belt with 2 stripes, but i can already beat 2nd degree black belts in Tae kwon do. And bjj takes a while for the fact that they grade your preformance. If your doing a shoddy job, then its gonna take a while until you get a stripe. If you go to a tournament and win 2nd place when your only a white belt w/ no stripes, then you gonna get a promotion soon.
