  1. Okay so I have been getting back into Karate(which I love) but I am not in a Dojo. My mom who is a brown belt but should be a black belt but do to moving was unable to go up for her black belt was unable to get it has started to reteach me in Goju Karate(I took it from 5-7 and stopped at orange belt). However because I've been having problems finding the info I need to better my practice of Goju-ryu I have considered switching to Shotokan(which is at the nearest Dojo) or through usage of books, Judo. What would be some things I should know about making this transition if I choose to do so? Or atleast with learning Goju-ryu?
  2. Hi people, I'm thinking about learning Krav Maga and was wanting to know somethings about it. I'm a wee bit over wait and would like to get back into the Martial arts. I stopped as a kid[i was at a orange belt and possibly 5] in Goju-ryu Karate. That is my favorite and preferred style but can't find a dojo that teaches that in my area. So I have decided to potentially start doing Krav Maga. I was waning to know mainly if there is some form of belts in Krav Maga? The reason is I feel that would make me feel more connected to my preferred style. Also I was just wanting some pointers on KM . I'm a bit overweight and I'm 18 I fond I really like martial arts that is about the only athletic thing besides soccer I really like. any tips or suggestions would be great thanks.
  3. I was wondering what is the oldest style of Karate (outside of Naha-te, tamri-te, Shuri-te )? I heard that Goju-ryu was the oldest. I ask because I would like to know because I would like to prosue Goju-ryu and that would just be something on top of that and I just really like Goju-ryu (It was the style I was taught as a kid )
  4. Okay so an update. I found out my mom study Karate for atleast 5 years if that helps any. Now my financial situation doesn't allow for me to take classes right now (can't even go to the dentist) Could I possibly study by myself and with my mom?
  5. Hi people. I'm considering relearning "Goju ryu Karate" and I got some questions. I'm 18 (and a wee bit overweight) when I was a little kid(I was 5) I went to a dojo called Karate kountry and went until a certain point. Then in 2007 moved from Indiana to Mississippi thus circumventing me getting back into it ( if I wanted to). I'm now wanting to get back into it but my family is poor. Now my Mom did in fact go to this dojo and she almost became a "black belt" but due to our move never was able to go to her. Could she help me relearn it ? Also what should I do if I wanted to relearn Karate(I stopped at yellow belt when I was 5)[/i]
