  1. Happy 13th anniversary and thank you for this forum. It was a major player in my decision to come back to Karate.
  2. Thank you all for your encouragements. Today was my second training session and I felt better then the 1st one.
  3. Got back to training today. I posted a thread about this on the Karate forums entitled: "Got back to training after 7 years". http://www.karateforums.com/got-back-to-training-after-7-years-vt46664.html Thank you all for your encouragement and your welcoming.
  4. Hello, Today, I gathered all my will power, moved my meetings, emptied my schedule and reserved 2 hours to get back to Shotokan training. I left training in 2008 and ever since, I wanted to get back and train. But the things of life, along with a country change, marriage, kids, multiple relocation and job changes prevented me form getting back to Karate. I was seriously thinking about this for many months now and I visited 3 schools. I finally chose the school that best fit my schedule, so now I train on the lunch hour! I can tell you that this 1st training was very good, after all, I don't seem to have lost the techniques and I remembered the Katas after 2 or 3 repetitions (I cheated a little bit and practiced the 1st 3 Heian Katas with the help of youtube a week earlier with my kids, it was really fun). The training wasn't too hard because it's only 1 hour long, but I felt a little bit rusty and out of breath after few kihons. Anyways, I wanted to share this with you.
  5. Thanks for your encouragement, I was wondering about how you sooth the pain on the knees. Do you put ice packs or do you rub them with some anti-inflammatory cream or you just stretch them? Maybe it's all that!
  6. Thanks for your advises and for your welcoming.
  7. I tried many different MAs in the past: Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Street fight, Aikido and Judo. None of these MAs was satisfying to practice for me as Shotokan was. Also, I want to build on the capital I already have in Shotokan.
  8. Hello, I want to introduce myself. I'm living in Montreal but I'm originally from Lebanon. I practiced Shotokan Karate for about 5 years between LB and Montreal and stopped at the 3rd Kyu level in 2008. I'm thinking about returning to practice, although I'm almost 47 yrs old and a little bit out of shape. I know that I need to take that 1st practice to get the fire burning again, but old injuries (from karate) and bad knees are making me have second thoughts. Anyways, if I return to practice, I'll post it on this forum. Thanks everyone and God bless.
