you are exactly right about almost everything you said save one thing patrick I do feel im unbeatable, the thing you are mistaken about is that i dont say this out of ego. I have studied other styles namely kalari, mma and a small bit of goju ryu. I make that claim based on my own experience like i said this is a forum for discussion so here we discuss but i have always had challenges out there for any who will answer them. (These days the responses come few and far between) I take no offence to your estimation of things. Im still willing to prove our superiority (not necessarily that of my martial art but rather of my training lineage) against any and all comers and will be until the day I die.

I agree generally most takedown experts could take someone in an average horse stance down but if you look at traditional chinese methods of training the horse stance if done properly is supposed to be immovable. But lets say for instance someone is able to take me down in horse stance im not an mma sportsman i dont intend giving him the chance to get a second shot at a different angle etc i intend breaking some bones while he is maneouvreing into a change of angle and probably leaving him with no arms to effect a takedown at the very least

I would generally drop my horse stance to create an extremely low centre of gravity while simultaneously hammering my elbows down into his elbow joints thereby not allowing him to grab my legs. after that his entire face and head region should be exposed then I would (because I don't subscribe to mma rules) probably break his jaw.

While no mma fighter has agreed to fight me without rules, I have sparred against a few of them and like i said nobody has managed to take me down. I agree wearing protective gear would probably give them the security and safety they would need to step up against me, but after everything thats been said by mma experts about traditional martial arts being inferior to them I have a bone to pick and maybe its wrong but i want to hurt some of their heroes.

Though I believe one has to able to take me to ground to actually test my ground fighting skill. It hasnt happened yet. Also with regards to Mma somebody said test them by wearing goggles, large groin guards etc to avoid seriouss injury. My whole point is their training is not sufficient to allow them to compete with such skills and strikes allowed therefore as it is them who have to prove themselves in this situation why should we make these concessions. The arrogance comes from them and i dont see why we should compromise on making them eat their words. However i am open to such a competition if they are willing to nullify their tap outs and bjj locks i wont use groin strikes or eye gouges. However if you are going to claim an art form to be full contact please have the conviction and confidence in your art to actually go all out and fight properly without 1 million rules.

Managing Behavior in Children's Martial Arts Training
KALIPUTRA replied to Rateh's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Thankfully I had great teachers and was able to benefit from their experience still i have copied your statement just to show to my classes junior instructors. I thank your for broaching this issue. -
Well said, while Im unfamiliar with your traditions, I will always accord respect to the training and rituals of another art form. I believe quality deserves respect.

I was trained in a system where no belts were used as my Sifu felt it "inconsequential" and yet I find using a belt system at my academy motivates my students and gives them a greater sense of pride. (not arrogance) we leave that at the door when we enter our studio.

Christians and the Martial Arts
KALIPUTRA replied to kchenault's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well said sir, Martial arts should be used to unite not divide. Today to the chagrine of many a traditional martial artist it is mostly used as an exercise or fitness training modality and there is definitely nothing wrong with that. Its the principle i use in teaching my taichi students. -

Wushu and Qin Na - practical?
KALIPUTRA replied to Saie's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
All chinese martial arts have good grappling efficacy if practiced properly. In Ryans case Wingchun coupled with good Chi-na helps him just as it does me to disprove Rickson Gracies assessment that all fights end up on the ground. I think traditional Jiu Jitsu is far more effective than the modern bjj practiced by mma clubs. I prefer my chi-na and it served me well til date. -
Wushu and Qin Na - practical?
KALIPUTRA replied to Saie's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
In all honesty Il admit MMA in SA is leagues behind MMA in the US but so my criticism of MMA should probably not be as general as it is. One MMA club in SA impressed me that being The Gorgeouss boys house. One of their coaches Ryan Hassan has a background in Wingchun and certain other chinese martial arts and therefore was able to counter any bjj lock he was put into. I Must however state with all due respect that I Fee Sanshou if practiced in the traditional sense ie less (just kickboxing) is as you say very effective but modern takes on it impress me very little. I am hosting a tournament on the 19April 2014 at the Morningside Primary School and am inviting variouss clubs to join in, hopefully they all accept and I can prove what I am saying to be true. I will thank all of you for your much appreciated opinions as it has got me to think more about what was said and be less adamant and arrogant ( even sometimes disrespectful) on certain subjects. -
Bruce Lee's Wing Chun
KALIPUTRA replied to sensei8's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
We all learn according to what we are thought by those we respect generally our chosen teachers, After reading your statement again I suppose I cant prove that bruce lee didnt see efficacy in western boxing so Il not go there but if he did then he was a little ignorant in doing so in my opinion. While there are some western boxers who are extremely efficient its the fighter that makes it so as in the case of Ali and Tyson not necesarily superiority in the technique. My point being an Ali or Tyson exposed to Kungfu or Kalariyapattu would have been an even more amazing sight to behold. -
I have allowed my students to spar against students from the top Bjj and Mma gymns in Durban SA and they are yet to be taken down. As for me I've challenged a few to fight but haven't received a response as yet. Mma fighters are only confident in Mma, matches it seems. When they don't have the security of those rules the hesitation is obviouss. I ain't saying this coz of ego, I train my kids to believe they are the best, simple reason being that ensures they train to be the best. And Il always claim they are the best until somebody proves me wrong because they deserve and have earned that from me. I do see your point but I guess our approaches are different. Much respect to you good sirs.

I have indeed allowed my students to spar against some of the students from the top MMA and BJJ academies in South Africa as for me Ive challenged them any of them to go up against me in full contact combat but sadly when it isn't according to their mma rules they aren't willing to step up. But yes definitely things can go wrong that's why I train my students to handle any eventuality. Some of them excel at it others not so much but I do train my students to believe they are the best and I wont change that because to believe you are the best you have to train to be the best.

Bruce Lee's Wing Chun
KALIPUTRA replied to sensei8's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Respectfully I disagree I believe did what he did best and I don't believe for a second he felt much more efficacy in western boxing as opposed to Chinese boxing. My opinions on this matter are strong therefore Il reserve what I post here but like I said credit to him for being a pioneer of sort. -
