I know this is old, but I just joined and wanted to see if there were any other Kuntaw practicioners... Philippine Maharlika Kuntaw, (or Kuntaw ng Pilippinas, as it is also known), is a 6 system derivative art, featuring techniques from the systems, Kali, Pentjak Silat, Chinese Shaolin Ssu Kenpo, Buno, Sikaran, and Bugotangan. It is similar in mindset to JKD, and the techniques are very easy to retain once the student understands the concept of flow and direction. It is a hard/soft style, with techniques for every person, building on their own personal strengths. It's taught, (to my latest knowledge), 2 places in Michigan, 1 in San Fran, and I think one in North Carolina. My instruction, Brian "Buzz" Smith, was the individual most responsible for bringing it to the States, and was the first non-muslim to receive the rank of Guro. He can be found in Traverse City, Michigan, teaching at Northwestern Michigan College, (Monday and Wednesday nights at 8pm if I remember correctly), and he lives in Sutton's Bay, Michigan. (I think he's still in the book under Smith, Buzz.) Here's his site at NMC I tried emailing him, but it looks like his NMC email and sidekick@aliens.com is a no-go...I'll update the info when I find out more. Buzz is a really great guy to work with, and he's always willing to teach someone seeking knowledge...he's always been there for me no matter in what capacity I needed him, and he's an excellent instructor. He's taught here in the stated, the Tribal Police in Michigan, and to a Police Dept. in Japan...(I forget where...it's been awhile). Tell him Trav, sent ya.
