  1. Thanks Yeh Ive read all about what aikido involves though i thought only 1 style covered the weapons! Time... i have plenty of, but the only thing that would disuade me from taking it is the lack of schools there are none in my local area but out of interest what would u say makes a good school and are there things u can spot if u go alongfor an induction?
  2. Heres 1 for ya have you every scared off a girl when she found out you did martial arts? !-Pete-i
  3. You would think that every one who studies a martial art would be taught to respect each other within there class or style at least, but yet for some reason you see so many people who learn MA's simply to say there better than other people wich IMHO is the wrong reason. To better our selves i would think is the main point of it all learn how to be stronger faster but also to learn how to be a better person! but how many ppl are in it for that eh? Pete
  4. Just Read All of this post over the last hour trying to understand it all... oh well ill try again later, but from what i have learnt is that this definatly seems to be one of the more passive MA's Or Methods of learning. Currently learning Muay Thai wich i find very rewarding when i dont break various parts of my body on my best friends legs and enjoy it immensly makes the week worth living for me MA's always been my greatest passion after friends and family of course But getting to the point i will probably only studie muay thai for 2 more years and after that or maybe just further on id love to study a MA that would benefit my abbilaties as a fighter but also in understanding the body, tactics and i duno, dont wanna sound corny but better my mind if u will. Do you think akido would be a wise choice? baring in mind its something i could see myself dedicating alot of my life too wich i cant see with muay thai Thanks for your time Pete
  5. Ah yes mixing techniques uve seen or read and puttng them into practise without mastering the techniques seperatly, not saying its a bad thing definatly got ambition as ur taking urself very seriously, and obviously open minded to take in so many different styles and compare them... I used to do thes same when i was 12-16 i stopped then! By The Time I was 16 i had sparred 3 times wid 2 different Ppl who did kickboxing (dont know what kind) and yes they were alot older and strong than me... But it was only because i was so much faster that the sessions lasted as long as they did... my technique was lame sept for a few punch combos and a couple of meaty kicks! Id say learn a martial art from a pro it helps so much and then learn another, then another if u need to, maybe 2 at once if uve got time. Im not just saying that itl improve ur arts but its great social fun and ull learn alot more (not just the techniques) off ppl u spar, practise with and learn from. Keep Working on ur own style but dont block the lessons u can learn from the world around youll gain Knowledge faster and more accuratly that way

  10. Hi everyone bit of a forum fan and i was so impressed with this 1 that i just had to sign up the info and politeness is 'A' Grade My Names Pete, 19 years old, im from south west England Dorset, and have recently started up Mauy Thai, and have to say im loving it to bits especially with friends! i got strong legs from tons of running wich makes it easy to get into although currently ive ripped the shoulder muscel a bit from my last session so sympathy is welcome Reasons for starting up martial arts was originally through fear of being bullied at school... however that was when i was 7 now im a "big lad" so to speak and have no worries of getting into fights! As ive been able to talk myself out of every potential one in the last 5-6 years (wich IMHO is one of the greatest gifts i own) Just the other week a guy through his drink over me while i was talking to my girl friend and he threatened to beat the hell out of me if i didnt leave ((never seen the guy b4 in my life :S) but I calmly dispersed the situation in a matter of sconds verbally so now my reason for taking up Mauy Thai is simply to get use up this stupid amount of energy i seem to have in a positive way although i can only see me doing it for a few years after that id like to move onto something a little more rounded more technical with more gaurds and counters and with some decent "training of the mind" although im a fan of big kicks ... any ideas? Well Thats My randomly long Introduction of babble, thanks for taking the time to read and i look faward to reading what every1 has to say on this forum of infinate potential Petey (sorry just love that emiticom)
  11. Heya Just signed up on forum 1 of the least aggresive ive ever seen great stuff... but that aside. Just Started MT KB myself about 1 and a half months ago i did karate b4 that and ive found this to be more enjoyable, maybe its the teacher or the style but i found i can really enjoy the friendly atmosphere of where i train and its great being able to just get straight in there with the techniques and power, im sure you probably guessed this already! As for ramarts.com cant help there but if your looking for a lot of work and fun then def go wid Muay Thai Petey
