White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. lol the rear body lock works on a judoku unless they are really good or experienced against wrestlers. Judo is afterall a form of wrestling!
  2. Sparring is essential, I have no problem with it other then that I can't afford a dojo right now so I have noone to spar with! It is impossible to get good without someone to beat you up back!
  3. The mentality that you need a black belt to conversate with martial artists is rediculous. I am from Wyoming where lots of guys wrestle, and box, neither has a belt system at all and most of those cowboys are great fighters who compete in cage matches and win all the time! It is insulting to think that they get absolutely no credit when the fact is I know many boxers who can kick the crap out of "black belts"
  4. What is the SCA and how do you learn? I am interested in learning all forms of combat!
  5. bushido_man96 you are totally correct, training situations stick in your head, we should all be aware of the tapout mentality and remember these situations are not that friendly!
  6. The MCMAP manual says basically to move yourself into a position where one attacker is in front of the other. This allows you to fight one at a time. Running is fine if you can, bbut I have been attacked a couple of times by more then one person. Like always protect your head and swing til it is over!!! Once off your feet immediately get back up!!!
  7. I know I am a noob, but you are all wrong! I have talked to a few fighters, amateur and professional (although none in the UFC), and all say the same thing! It is just not acceptable behavior to intentionally end a career. The side kick is well respected by many MMA fighters but is well known to cause injury when launched at the knee (a JKD practioners first thought). Intentionally disabling another fighter is considered rude and unnacceptable and will usually end in other fighters planning on doing the same to you. Fighters avoid this for the same reason you don't sneak in a below the belt punch in boxing when the ref isn't looking - it just isn't cool.
  8. I am also very strongly interested!!! Please someone help!
  9. Others mentioned the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, but did anyone mention Bruce Lee's fighting method? It is a three part book that Bruce mostly had part in (finished after death), that is simply awesome in terms of actual training and conditioning. Oh, and GOT FIGHT by Forrest Griffin is great for the same reasons. P.S. great thread!!!
