Yellow Belt

Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. I completely disagree with the idea of skipping belts. I got my black belt in Karate and I went on to Tae Kwon-Do, but I would never skip a belt as it is a different martial art thus a completely different form - no matter how similar the moves you must learn them and advance at the set rate instead of skipping simply because of your martial arts history.
  2. well done, if you find it easier then i suggest to keep at this!!!
  3. Do whatever motivates you! this is definitely as good idea as your brown belt grading/promotion should be recognizably more difficult that your previous kyu gradings/promotions. good luck
  4. Maybe you could KIAI in correct place and breath out on each move
  5. Hi, I don't like roundhouse kicking with the ball of my foot yet it is the technical way that it should be done in my TKD and that is what I have to do for gradings and stuff but for sparring or in karate - my preference is definitely the instep of the foot, i like to throw the kick from my rear leg and just once if hitting hard but making sure the kick is really powerful or a couple of times off my lead leg if trying to catch out/score points in competitions. hope this helped in anyway
  6. no. it's not wrong at all. it is actually very good as it adds and element of surprise to attacks. in my tae kwon-do classes; we are told to bounce and we are reminded to do so whenever we don't during sparring
  7. Hi. With my karate I have: White Belt (9th Kyu) Yellow Belt (8th Kyu) Orange Belt (7th "") Green Belt (6th """) Blue Belt (5th) Purple Belt (4th) Brown Belt (3rd) Brown Belt w/ White stripe (2nd) Brown Belt w/ Black stripe (1st) Black Belts (1-10 Dan) (we used to have a red belt in between white and yellow) With my Tae Kwon-Do: White belt (10th Kup) White belt w/ Yellow stripe (9th Kup) Yellow belt (8th Kup) Yellow belt w/Green stripe (7th """") Green belt (6th Kup) Green belt w/Blue stripe (5th """) Blue belt (4th) Blue belt w/red stripe (3rd) Red belt (2nd) Red belt w/black stripe (1st) Black Belts (1-10 Dan/Degree) HOPE THIS HELPS/HELPED IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE
  8. if you've only just started a couple a months ago then (please don't take any offence by this but) you may need to continue practicing for another couple of months maybe until you are able to do it - maybe start at mawashi geri chudan and slowly heighten your kicks
  9. congratulations and well done for keeping at it
  10. they're good prices - especially the 5 class block for $35 - I'm from England and if you convert that to £ - that's more of less the same as the karate prices at my dojo
  11. I think some main points are to do it next to the student and to also example the "chambering" of the knee and make clear the part of the foot you kick with
  12. It may just be nerves - try to convince her possible you could make everyone in the dojo give a massive kiai or something as if to encourage her. just a suggestion
  13. I also agree! I also also agree- that is outrageous
  14. The only time in my classes when I wear footwear is when I'm training sparring in which case I wear protective foot-pads.
