  1. watch that film with Jennifer Lopez in it! then watch JCVD's Kickboxer and judge which one to do on which has the best final scene! ha ha ha
  2. I hate people like that, when i was teaching a boxer some self defence moves he kept saying he could resist them. The move is meant to begin with a release reaction, such as kicking the knee or groin. So I just took him aside and said if he wanted a full demonstration, broken knee cap and all, then I'd be happy to give him one. By dealing with it this way neither he nor I got embarrased infront of the rest of the class. He was as good as gold for that session and the whopping 2 he attended after that, although I have no doubt he was whining behind my back.
  3. my style Kickboxing. Con's: Go straight into full contact without drilling out the basic techniques to make them air tight. Too much sparring to early on can dishearten slow learners. Pro's: If you do take to it well then you can learn very fast and actually build up an arsenal of things you can use in real self defence situations.
  4. if u jump straight into a stance they'll know ur trained, but if u adopt a not interested stance then they'll relax and not be as ready for a launched attack on that kneecap closest to u.
  5. favourite technique would have to be: Two left jabs-right hook-spinning left backfist flows beautifully
  6. just remember your sparring for yours and their benefit guys. Assess the other guy's abilities as best you can. A lot of clubs seem to have problems with higher grades taking them to pieces. No-one wins there. It's a time to practice your techniques so try them all out, see what works best for you
  7. I agree that point fighting will be useless in a real fight but if you put a begginer straight in at full contact the chances are they will either be apprehensive to go forward or be too aggresive and fly in leaving themselves open to powerful shots. Even if you slowly introduce them to semi-contact the chances are that they won't have the control to keep it that light and it'll end up full contact. I think introducing them to point fighting alows them the time and confidence to use their techniques. The next step would be to say that the individual only achieves a point if he follows his intital point strike with another. It encourages them to follow up on their technique. Try it guys, then slowly build to three then ease them into semi contact. Remember if their serious about learning then they will be around long enough for you to do this!
  8. I find the more I learn about fighting, the more nervous I feel about it. It's like you see just how many times you could get done in by not having a technique air tight and you begin to feel more nervous. Anyone else feel like that?
  9. I saw this one match once where this guy was in the guilotine lock, and he was punching his opponents ribs trying to get out of it, somewhere along the line he changed his punches for taps but the guy didnt realise and kept applying it. The ref had to like prise them apart with major force!!! still not sure if I find it funny or not! lol
  10. try and train in as many shoes as possible so you get used to different supports incase it happened in a fight. I know for a fact i'd struggle in my snake skin shoes! lol (fake ones i might add)
  11. I hate those guys in sparring that do all those fancy kicks to try and look good to the rest of the class, then because it's light/semi contact you cant always punish them for it. Can only show them that their going wrong. How many times do we need to be told not to throw a technique unless we think we can land it, or land the one after it.
  12. come on guys, if it was worthless why would it still be around today? Its been around this long for a reason surely
  13. I always find and outside crescent kick the hardest, its weird my hips click on the way back down again and I have no idea why, physio says their alright and it doesnt hurt, just hate the feeling of them clicking! lol
  14. ahh dude! Shin blokes kill if it's a full blown whack, bring the mirrowing foot up and bloke just above/below the knee before the power gets going. In a street fight aim for the knee if you need to put them out of commision, but dont train it or you'll be very unpopular
  15. I always find it was the first technique I learnt which is the most comfortable? Jab, reverse front puch kick. Anyone else find that?
