White Belt (1/10)

  1. I'm hoping that is the correct term. I'm a new Iaido student, and that aspect hasn't been covered more than in passing. What I refer to, as you can surely guess even if the term is wrong, is the securing of your iai in it's sheath so that if someone gets ahold of it that should not, they can't just pull it out straight away, such as kids or really just anyone who would not be drawing your weapon (ie anyone who you've not given specific permission to =p) Anyhoo, as I said I'm new to Iaido. Been studying Yoseikan Aikido for about three years now, and loving it. Recently my Sensei began offering an extra class that is solely Iaido that I have taken part in. I was curious if there is a site perhaps (I have been unable as of yet to find one) that details a way of tying down of the weapon. Right now I do an improvised and quite ugly version. I've seen some very pretty ties and I wanted to learn a good tie that would not only be functional but look nice as well. If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. Below is a link to an image of what I refer to from a post I made on this topic on another forum that didn't really get answered. As you can see, the tie is rather sloppy and ugly looking and while it functions, I'm a big fan of the beautiful ties you can see in various forms in the martial arts. I figured there had to be some good ones for this type of use. http://www.e-budo.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?s=&postid=174760 Dach
