  1. Thanks! True, time transformation during training is one of the more "troublesome" dimensions of the questionnaire; I see that in other researchers' studies and I see that in my preliminary results. For me personally, I certainly sense time differently when I train - it goes by so quickly! For some it slows down though. Many people report it, but often it doesn't come out as statistically significant in studies.
  2. Yes, UK and Canada residents are very welcome to fill out the survey as well! Thanks for the interest! What you're saying certainly makes lots of sense and a lot of what I'm doing with this research is connected with what you've experienced. I'll be happy if you take part in the survey.
  3. I'll be working on data analysis at the end of May. Since almost all respondents wish to know their results, I'll be sending out individual e-mails in June and July.
  4. You raise an interesting point on both questions, one can be a karate instructor, but is also a student of his own teacher / sensei at the same time. When you look at it this way, everybody is also a student. Still, not that many karatekas work as instructors as well, hence the question. True - it's a general tendency with many psychological questionnaires. Thanks for your input!
  5. They are so closely related, I think Shorin-ryu will be fine. Thanks!
  6. I am an undergraduate psychology student, as well as a shorin-ryu karate student. I am conducting a study for my graduation thesis; I am interested in psychological states one enters when training karate and the well-being that ensues as a result of these states. Here's how you can help: if you are a karate student from the U.S., please fill in the following survey (here is the link): http://tinyurl.com/4rn2mff To thank respondents for filling out the survey, I am giving away a 100$ amazon.com voucher! As well at that, everyone can get their results once the study is finished. I will send out short emails with the respondents' individual results and what they mean for them. It takes around 15-20 minutes to complete the survey. The survey closes on May 25th 2011. Since I have an interest in comparing a karate-traning group to a group that doesn't train karate, I have another survey. I'll be grateful if you can forward it to it your family and friends that don't train karate. Here is the link to that survey: http://tinyurl.com/4nzn66s If you have any questions regarding the surveys, please contact me and I'll be happy to answer them. Thank you for your time!
