  1. To really develop your techniques try using a traditional makiwara. By doing so in a progressive way you will develop your overall technique, kime, and power.
  2. To me it sounds like they wanted to satisfy their curiosity. As people have said in the posts I doubt that it will be your teaching methods, more to do with what the students were told before attending your class. If you're looking to attract new students and keep them better to get them yourself with your marketing methods.
  3. From my experience, It takes a while for students to adopt the martial arts way of life. Once they begin to think and act like martial artists the technical ability follows. In contrast there are many students that practise and learn the techniques, practise at home and become competent, only to quit after a year or two.
